Sending generals back for more troops in adventure

Is there a way to send a general back to get more troops when you are in an adventure? I've checked the garrison tab but I don't see anything. I'm probably going to lose my adventure as I've run out of troops (had the wrong mix )

You click on the adventure icon (on the right side of the screen) then click on "send army back." Choose the general you want to send back, wait a half hour, go to your home island, click the garison, add troops to that general, then click the adventure icon and choose "send army."

Takes a minimum of 1 hour with the basic general. I have extra generals just to help with travel.
