    10 scouts back from a medium search returned a 50% rate. That is the highest I have ever seen.

    Based upon what people have said about the frequency investing in another scout my be worth while. Of course that is competing with upgradeing advanced buildings as well, which so far has been one reason not to buy (just now starting doing much trading and making gold via the mine/smelter routine). The savage scout would be great but I think overall the gem investment at the present time would be best on deeds and occasionally the golden parrot.
