Fir Wood Cutter and Fir Logs

Portions of this post comes from the German wiki: http://www.siedlertools.de/wiki/Nadelholzf%C3%A4llerh%C3%BCtte

    Description

A fir wood cutter retrieves logs from a nearby fir tree deposit and places them in a nearby storage facility. A fir wood cutter is available when a player reaches level one. A fir wood cutter will retrieve fir logs from the next closest tree deposit once the tree deposit it is working on is depleted. Fir tree deposits can be resupplied with additional logs by means of a fir tree forester.

    Construction and Upgrade Information

    ______________________Construction Costs_______________Construction Time
    Construction Level 1__10 tools_________________________1 min.
    Level 1 to 2__________120 hw planks, 100 marble________2:30 min.
    Level 2 to 3__________300 hw planks, 150 marble________60 min.
    Level 3 to 4__________500 coin, 300 marble_____________24 hrs.
    Level 4 to 5__________500 exotic planks, 300 granite___7 days

    Destruction Reimbursement: 2 tools

    Resource Locations

A fir tree deposit can be located by (1) zooming in to the island map, (2) selecting a fir wood cutter or a fir tree forester from the production menu or located on the island. The fir tree deposit image is then visible and the number of fir logs available shown. Fir tree deposits are available on every sector, however the greatest concentration of fir tree deposits are in s1, s2, and s5.

    Production

A fir wood cutter consumes 1 log in a fir tree deposit for every fir log it produces per level. Production time for a fir wood cutter is 1:30 minutes plus transportation time to and from a fir tree deposit and to and from a storage facility. Therefore, a level 1 fir wood cutter will never produce 40 fir logs per hour due to travel time costs.

    Tips
    • It is best to place a fir wood cutter between a fir tree deposit and a storehouse or mayor's house. Shorter distances will result in shorter production times.
    • Your fir wood cutter will require three fir tree foresters for every two fir wood cutters constructed. Due to travel times, this ratio may vary.
    • The layout for fir wood cutters and fir tree foresters should be: construct two fir wood cutters, with a fir tree forester between them and another fir tree forester on the outside of each fir wood cutter.
    • It is possible to place an entire fir production chain around a storehouse. Using the keypad as locations, the storehouse is located at position 5. The fir wood cutters are located at positions 7 & 9. The fir tree foresters are located at positions 4, 6, & 8. Four fir wood sawmills, or two charcoal huts, are located across positions 1, 2, & 3. Rotate the this layout as needed depending on available space.
    • To calculate the number of fir wood cutters needed on an island. Count the number of fir wood sawmills and the number of charcoal huts. Take half the number of sawmills and add to it the number of charcoal huts. The result should be close to the number of fir wood cutters needed.
    • A bowmaker also requires a fir wood cutters. The ratio is one bowmaker to one fir wood cutter. I recommend demolishing a bowmaker once you build a longbowmaker. There is not much use for regular bowmen from that point forward.
