What is the point of cavalry. Seriously

They have first strike, nice. But they do roughly as much damage as spitting at the bandits and have so little health that your enemies may mistake them for after dinner mints. To take out a small bandit camp at the level you get them, it would take a full force of 200. If you can't 1hit-KO what you're fighting with them, then you must have a sufficient force to defend them since they're attacked before archers.

I guess what I'm saying is, outside of a 1-hit KO situation, what reason is there for me to want cavalry? They do less damage and have less health then anything else at my disposal, in combat lasting more then 1 round they become a liability, if your enemy gets a counter-attack then they're a tyrannosaurus waste of resources.

I would love to be corrected.

dogs and archers would be two reasons you will need them.

No. You don't want to spend these expensive units on dogs and wolves. If there is a camp with just archers or lower hit point goons you can send in like 175 cavalry and 25 recruits and save a bunch of recruits that way. Most adventures will require you or assume you have about 200 cavalry, some much more. It is a very useful unit in the game, they are just situational.

They are useful for adventures but don't really help with bandit camps though. Is that what you're saying?

You'll find them useful when it comes time to fight Wild Mary.

    You, SirRoy, are an meanie.

Everyone else though, thank you. Very helpful. I guess they'll just find their purpose later in the game then.

when you hit 26, there are a few bandit camps in adventures where you can take out a camp with 200 cav and suffer no losses. If that's not a good reason to raise ponies, I don't know what is.

    Come on. Lighten up.
That kind of language is not called for.
    My apologies, sincerely.

Like someone else said you will need them for chuck's camp/metal tooth's camp/wild mary but those are sacraficial situations since all the cavalry will die. So many of the medium/hard bandit camps have dogs so you shouldn't send in cav for those since it is wasteful.
