"Allwood District"
One of the original districts of the island, this area was called “LogJam” in the early days. After his second term, the Mayor renamed it “Allwood District”, seeing as how that sounded more officious on paper. Being a rural, rough ‘n tumble type place, it is fitting that the only tavern in the whole area is situated right between the two main camps. “Best move I ever made.” Is often heard from the Innkeep, as he spit-shines the mugs. “Now if’n I could get the mayor to build me a well...”
The Mayor made it part of his platform to “upgrade and embellish the area” with new roads connecting the storehouses. However, in private quarters, he admitted that he simply got tired of having to repair the carts traveling on those “ill-begotten mud trails they call roads!”.
Being the blue collar district, it was only natural that the most efficient coal mines on the whole island sprung up in the nearby hills. “Them be some hard men, harder than the mountain they be carv’n up ere day, yup. And it takes nearbouts a barrel a head to keep the throat washed.”, smiles the Innkeep.
It is a collection of well-balanced pinewood and hardwood production chains. It’s not an uber level layout (everything is level 2-3), and it is not pretty pictures of fancy marble Mayoral Manors that we all have seen a dozen times. It’s a blend of efficient and esthetic. It’s a tribute to the working class- the real Settlers!
