Global-7 New Trade Channel

Alas, trade spam is usually the most worthwhile thing going on in global.

I do not think trade spam is the only thing worthwhile in global.... Sure its better than mindless spam, or religious/political debates but I have had many a conversation rudely interupted by spamming trade ads. So at least it would help remove some of the senselessness that happens in global.

Sadly if anyone moves to a trade channel, the people who remain in Global will have more customers and get better deals.
This is why even though we have advertising channels on TV, we still got ads.

I must say that I made a quick 600 coins in my first 10 minutes in global-7.
But to be honest, I see it as an additional source of trade revenue, not a replacement for trading in global-1 or the help tab.

In fact, I see global-7 as a place for bulk traders to go. I do not want to see 2000 players just leveling at 17 in there trading 100 stones for 250 fish. That would drive me away.

Nothing will ever stop players from utilizing all the chat tabs in any way they see fit. The best we can hope for is to set by our example, more proper chat etiquette.
This includes players rudely ordering and demanding that others conform to what they deem is proper usage of a chat tab. That type of behavior will only have the opposite effect since it breeds resentments. UbiSoft has given a set rules in the ToS which all players agreed to. Trading and recruiting are not a violation of the ToS and no player is a Mod to order anyone to do anything.

My contribution to alleviating the negative impact my trading or recruiting may have in global-1 and Help is to make all my offers short and sweet and to take prospective trade partners/members into whisper. Also, I try to keep the postings to a minimum. I judge by how far the chat scrolls, not by a certain time between posts. When chat is very busy, I post more often.
I also try to engage in the chat on global and have fun and help people in the help tab. I am not a spam-bot and have no intention of acting like one.

In my opinion the best we can hope for as a community is compromise and a slow but sure improvement over time brought about by we players ourselves agreeing to be more considerate of each other.

All that being said, I have found it makes transitioning between channels easier to have /joinchat global-1 and /joinchat global-7 in a note to copy paste into the text field.


One last distinction I want to make for clarification. What constitutes spam? (Definition given to me by a Mod)

SirRoy this is a great point. I agree that chat is slow degrading into a terrible place to go. These are good points. All we wanted to do is try to move some of this outta global-1 for others to dicuss game and life matters.... not religion/politics of course. I think global 1 will always have some sort of ads and spam, just trying to funnel some of this in a different dicertion so chat is not so busy and full all the time.

Even with taking trade (and/or guild announcements) out of global-1, it is a cesspool. Rarely is any kind of intelligent, respectful, or polite conversation taking place there.
I believe the state of global now, prevents many players from taking part in the community. These players quickly quit for lack of progress and boredom.

I completely agree LT. Global-1's condition is worsening. Guess this post will bring attention of the state of global to the Mods here at CEO, if they look :P

All we can really do is block people who are offensive.
