i've listened to the Stone Roses a bunch over the years, but never explored the solo work of their front-man Ian Brown. In the last year or so, i've begun to delve into his work and can't seem get enough of his music, good stuff.

an old one, but a great song by a great group, none the less. not to mention the vocals by Thom Yorke from Radiohead. the video is rather odd, but worth the watch. enjoy.

Allah (God) is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah, nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice of regular Charity: Their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes will be transformed (in a world wholly new)

That Allah may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more for them out of His Grace: for Allah doth provide for those whom He will, without measure.

And the servants of ((Allah)) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!";

Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing;

Those who say, "Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,

Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes)

Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment.

(But) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy

And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah with an (acceptable) conversion;
"Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in";
