Let me get this thread started. Just post poems that make you feel like what you are or that describes you in the world or whatever you can relate to. Just write one and don't copy and paste from the internet please.


There was a tree,
And I just wanted to be free,
So I ran from the bandits to hide underneath,
But what I didn't know was that there was a sleeping dog that was laying there beneath.
All I could do was tip-toe to climb the branch,
But when I looked back, the dog was awake and was about to grab my escaping tool ranch.
And staring at me with his big eyes, he seemed to be feeling like he had just broke from a cage
And in him was filled so much rage.
Then I looked around and I was startled to see so many red apples, so I grabbed one and there went the toss
To the dog and he seemed to enjoy it and smiled at me and right then I knew I was his boss.

restive thoughts of twilight time
that winter's coming may construe
The cries of geese may seem forlorn
to those attuned to grief and pain
and some may see not rose but thorn
when seeing death as loss not gain


True story: This came to me as a voice in my head in an English accent.
I ran for a pencil and paper to write it down, but needn't have bothered for it was marked indelibly in my memory.
A few years ago, while taking a literature class at the community college I opened the book to poems of Dylan Thomas.
As I read his work, it was as if I were hearing that voice all over again.
