I really enjoy the trade aspect of this game and wanted to offer a suggestion regarding trade mechanics. I’m not sure if this has been mentioned before in another post, but thought I’d post it anyway.
It’d be nice to allow the listing of stockpiles instead of just a max of 400 units at a time. The way I envision it, when preparing a trade offer, we could indicate how much of our stockpile we wanted to list, indicate an active time limit, then set the transaction minimum (using the same mechanics currently in place).
For example, assume I have 10k bronze swords in stock. I decide to trade 5k of those swords for horses. I first indicated I want to place 5k up for trade in a trade window, this window should also have an option to list a time period for the trade to stay active, say up to 48 hours. After indicating this amount and time, I am directed to another trade window, similar to the one we currently use. Here I indicate the minimum transaction amount, say 400 bronze swords for 300 horses. Then I click the trade button as currently done to activate the trade. Immediately upon doing this, 5k of my stock is placed in reserve for trades.
When opening the trade tab, I notice two additional columns; one listing the total stockpile available and one listing the time remaining on the active trade. Another nice part of this is that you no longer need to confirm trades, since your stockpile is in reserve, all of this can be done automatically. Now there could also be an option to cancel or modify the pricing of the trade. Each of these would have a cool-down period so people wouldn’t spam the trade tab and cause problems for the server. Players could now also accept multiple orders with the same trade offer, no need to make it disappear after a single trade. As long as there are still units in the stockpile available, anyone can accept the trade as many times as they want.
Another side effect of this is to encourage more player competition in the market thereby making it more efficient. I think you would see less of the silly trades you find today, since market makers could list huge stockpiles at reasonable prices and set them for the max time limit. You could still make better offers than those market makers, and reap reasonable rewards but you wouldn’t see the 100 fir wood for 100 coin trades you currently find all over the place.
Just my 2 cents. I think you guys have done a good job on the game and look forward to what’s in store.
