    Beginners/Advanced/Expert Guide on Market

    Hello there!

If you are reading this, that means you want to get some additional info on how to play this game properly. Good for you. Now prepare for walls of text, do not say that you've not have been warned.

First things first, and I want to be perfectly clear about this.

This is NOT another City Building Game, this is purely TRADE game. The sooner you realize that, the better for you.

Your second step is to bookmark this below (click on it):

TRADING PRICE GUIDE for Trade Tab (TT)

When you reach level 16, your priority should be to gather 180 Hard Wood Planks (HWP) and 180 Marble (M) so you could build Office Branch when you reach level 17 ASAP (As Soon As Possible).

When that building is finished, click on Trade Tab (TT) on the bottom left, click Update, click and hold arrows on top of TT to enlarge it (move it more to the top), click on "Offer" to filter TT and you will see which resource is offered and for what cost. Check the picture below.

So why is there a need for g7 channel anyway? Why I use it? Why most players, which keep fair prices / trades - use it?

Every day, you are in need of some basic resources; you can find them in Basic and Intermediate Tab when you click on mayor's house. Will you spend next hour or so on Trade Tab to get what you need for fair price? Nope. You will join G7 and find a player with decent prices. Then, with that player under whisper tab, you will do 10-15 trades. For example - if I need copper and coal, I will trade with the player which is in need for flour / wheat and every trade will look something like this: 360 coal for 400 wheat (price of coal is 10gc, wheat 11gc) and multiply that with 2-5 trades. Then copper for flour: 400 for 400 (flour is 13, copper is 13) and again multiply that with 2-5 trades. In two minutes you just unloaded your excessive low level resources with ones that you need and now, you can freely go put your offer on Trade Tab your higher level goods that you want to sell (example: 200 steel swords for 100 gold coins) which you will get rid of pretty fast and THERE is your chance to re-invest those 100 gold coins on what ever you wish. Furthermore, after 10 minutes you can place another offer for some other good that you wish to sell / trade / buy.

Of course, there will always be players that want to sell their goods for higher than fair prices on G7, looking for profit and while doing that, thinking "Oh, I am so clever!".

Of course that truth is quite the opposite so when you see that kind of player, just never ever trade with him or add him to your friend list. It is, in fact, quite amusing and I would even dare to say - amazing - how those kind of players waste their next few hours just to get extra 20-50 gold coins which, on the other hand, you can get in 2 minutes from trade tab. And that is only the tip of the ice berg for various reasons while you should always keep your trades fair on G7.

Trade Tab is completely another story - there your are free to do what ever you like. I like to say: "In love, war and on Trade tab - everything is allowed."

If you do not understand some things which are written above, feel free to read the rest of this guide and then scroll back and read this again.

    ----

Your next step is to join G7 (Global chat 7) by clicking on chat box and typing: /joinchat global-7

That is official trading chat channel. Rules of behavior apply as same on as any other chat and is it mainly used as chat for trades, additional information of prices, trade ratios etc. For any help regarding the game itself, you should use Help Tab for your own convenience because you will probably get your answer there faster.

You will soon get used to our language:

WTT / WTS / WTB = Want To Trade / Sell / Buy – trade means you want to trade your resource for other resource, sell refers to selling your goods for GC (Gold Coins) and Buy means you want to give your GC for certain amount of stuff that you want.

Caution! If you want to sell / buy / trade gold, that means you want to sell / buy / trade for Gold Bars and NOT gold coins (GC).

Swap = same as trade but in this case - you are looking for a 1:1 ratio.

    G7 = Global Chat 7

    TT = Trade Tab

TTO = Trade Tab Offer – I usually «tip» my friends when I see offer on TT which is good to take. For example, if there is a silly offer on TT - something like 100 GCs for 400 Bronze Swords - I tip my friends by typing: TTO: 100gc for 400bs

    Stack = amount of 400

Noblet = If you do not buy gems for real money (like me), you can buy Noble Residence from gem sellers (he buys Noble residence with his gems then gift to you). We call those noblets. Reason for this is because noblets do not "use" license as "regular" noble residences do. Current market price of noblets are 150-250 gcs each.

Caution! Do not make trades for noblets with players that you do not trust 150%! Noblets cannot be traded in regular way, like most other resources - it can only be gifted. Which means, after you struck a deal with noblet seller, you should send that player your gcs and when he accepts it, he can then send you "gift". If you get offer to buy noblet, always and I do mean always - ask around if that player is trustworthy!

Notice! To buy a noblet from a noblet seller is your privilege and not your right! Announcing on g7 channel that you are buying noblet and expecting to get offer asap is a fool's dream. We all cherish our gems and noblet sellers are getting gems for real money, end week bonus or by leveling up (after lvl32, you get 170 gems for every next level). Same goes for your privilege to play this game, make deals on g7, chat with other players and everything else which is included in this game. Respect other players as you would like to be respected.

Resources: Bronze Swords (BS), Iron Swords (IS), Steel Swords (SS), GC (Gold Coins), Fir Wood Logs (FW), Fir Wood Planks (FWP), Hard Wood Logs (HW), Hard Wood Planks (HWP), Exotic Wood Logs (EW), Exotic Wood Planks (EWP), LB (Long Bows), Marble (M) are most common ones.

Caution! G7 is a channel for fair trade, and fair trade only. You want profit? Not a problem – but you WILL work for it on TT, and TT exclusively. There is no such thing as «free and fast» GCs in this game by doing scams and playing cheap - that is, if you want to make any progress in this game and/or get valuable advantage over average player.

Caution! Do not get scammed in deals that are going under Whisper Tab - ask for actual price on G7 or other players if you are not certain!

Sure, as you level up and you get more and more resources from your town which you produce for free + adventures, in every trade that you make - you will get more and more GCs.

And this is the way this game should be played.

Price of Adventures, loot spots and complete updated price sheet:

Trading Price Guide for Trade Tab - for how much u can buy and actually get at least 2-3-4 offers (lowest price) and for how much u can sell (max), also 2-3-4 offers

    Be Greeted, Settlers fans.
I would like to present you a new invoice throughput of adventure.
Below is evaluation of the adventure experience gained by the unit losses.

In this calculations, I miss the resources to be gained and the cost of building the required units... (he now explains where that info can be found on German forum - check the link below to find additional info on that).

    Here are the first results:

    RD (raw throughput) = raw profit / raw materials;
ErfD (empirical throughput) = experience / loss amount; (total loss = cost of lost units)

Legend: Adventure -> RE% - ErfD or, in other words, lost units vs XP gain:

    Nords (RE: 201% --- ErfD: 22.51)
The Dark Priests (RE: 136% --- ErfD: 10.97)
The Black Knight (RE: 222% --- ErfD: 10.64)
    Horseback (RD: 80% --- ErfD: 10.33)
Stealing from the rich (RD: 82% --- ErfD: 9.58)
    Old friends (RE: 102% --- ErfD: 6.74)
    Outlaws (RD: 69% --- ErfD: 6:11)
    Traitors (RD: 56% --- ErfD: 5.88)
Victor the Vicious (RE: 107% --- ErfD: 5.18)
Sons of the Veldt (RD: 35% --- ErfD: 5.15)
    Swamp Witch (RD: 56% --- ErfD: 5.09)
Island of the Pirates (RE: 189% --- ErfD: 4.33)
The Dark Brotherhood (RD: 63% --- ErfD: 4.72)
    Secluded Experiments (RD: 35% --- ErfD: 3.57)
    Motherly Love (RE: 154% --- ErfD: 1.65)

And here we see the ranking of the adventure with respect to the raw throughput - loot vs lost units:

    The Island of the Pirates
    The Black Knight
    Mother's love
    The Dark Priests
    Victor the Vicious
    Nords
    Old friends
    Outlaws
    Stealing from the rich
    Horseback
    The Dark Priests
    Traitors
    Swamp Witch
    Secluded Experiments
    Sons of the Veldt

**Disclaimer: this is not meant as a thread derail, only a complement to the original post.**

As Sir Roy mentioned above, some trades require trust between both parties because they don't use the standard trade mechanics (see his remarks on noblets). In response to this, we've started a sort of trade history thread in the Trade Forum section. Trade Rep is used to assist players conducting large unsecured trades. If you successfully complete a large transaction please feel free to update the thread with the parties involved. This way we can keep track of those who honestly deal in large unsecured trades. While it's not fool-proof, it can help when parties have no previous experience or knowledge of each other. Best of luck in your trades!

SirRoy, as a fairly new person to this game (level 23 right now), and one very new to trading, I have to take a moment to say "thank you" for this thread. It is very informative, and this thread as well as the linked information have saved me a great deal of (number-crunching) time.

Now that I feel that I'm getting the hang of the game, and am gaining experience with trading, I think I'll probably start looking into guilds.

    Your welcome.
I can't take credit for the original work, just for consolidating the information from The Settlers Online forums and bringing it here.

Thanks for the information. I have thought about how to deal with trading outside my guild or on the trade tab.

The only thing I am unsure of is the fluctuations in daily resources. Resources do work in a similar fashion to supply and demand. Many resources stay fairly stable, but others fluctuate more. Is there any resource that tracks this?

I have noticed it relates to time of day.
3-6 pm rolling through time zones seems to be peak trade hours.
