    Gold Coins

In my opinion, the amount of gold coins it takes to upgrade anything is ridiculous. I'm too lazy to find if there was another thread in place about this issue, but I'm hoping someone could provide some feedback on it.

As an example: It shouldn't take 1,000 Gold Coins to upgrade a Noble Residence to level 4. I can see maybe 50 or 100, max.

remember that this is a game and they want u to buy their gems. that's one of the reason I guess.

well for some players, that 1000 coins is not a burden for them who have many many coinages and many other things that can be easily sold in market.
Also if u don't want to upgrade ur noble to lvl 4, u can buy another noble deed from players who pay gems.

In my opinion, I would use a different example. I personally, nor should anybody else, want to upgrade any of their noble residences to lvl 4 or 5. For the amount of coins it takes just to level it up to lvl 4, you can destroy the noble residence (get a license back) and then find somebody selling noble deeds and buy 3 more for the same price. Then level those 3 to lvl 3 and not only do you have an extra license out of the deal, but you also have a higher population limit. NEVER upgrade a noble residence higher then lvl 3, except maybe one just to have one at lvl 5 for looks! I'm done here, bye for now!

I imagine I'll be taking my nobles to lvl 5 one day in a far away time from now but I see no point not to take them up honestly...and that being said

May be true but what if you have 70-80 noble deeds already and not using your licences for them yet you're now runnin out of real estate on the island? Only option then will be to upgrade those nobles

I had posted on this a while back by my quick math a basic or intermediate building (which should not cost the same to upgrade fyi) costs about 75% increase from 1 to 2 and a 150% increase from 2 to 3 but costs about 1000% to go from 3 to 4 in goods and coin value. Buying gems sure, great we all understand that but creating a stone wall to advancement at a certain level just creates frustration not an urge to buy gems. Many of us that are experienced gamers look at this obvious inaccuracy in the scale of the game and know that this means other areas of the game will lack in creating a proper scale. This means for me that I will not spend money on the game and play it casually until it proves to me that it will develop with a better understanding of balance and playability. Things like the settlers taking so long (15 minutes each is way to slow in the scale of the game as well 1600 unemployed residents divided by 15 minutes equals 400 hours or 10 days to fill), so that it takes about a week to prep for an adventure (even with 4 lvl3 bakeries) is another example. All of this makes the game a very casual game for me and other gamers that have tried it on that I know. That combined with the slow updates from what I see in the notes takes this from a potentially great browser game to a wait and see game

i think the worst part of the upgrade costs is that Ubisoft values gems at a penny each, and thus they value coins at ~$3.50 for 100 coins, so they are basically saying that a upgrade from 3->4 is worth $35 dollars in their opinion????!!!!!!!!!!! thats the part about coins and upgrade costs that gets to me
