    Upgrade costs

Do the upgrade costs make sense to anyone?? Because I am looking at my buildings and I'm seeing that a level 4 "basic" or "intermediate" building costs 500 coins, level 2 "advanced" cost 100 coins and level 3 cost 250, and I have no clue on expert cause I'm not level 31 yet lol. Anyway, the makers of castle empire value 100 coins at approximately $3.50 (200 gems is worth $2, and 100 coins cost 350 gems, therefore $3.50 for 100 coins) which means that somehow I'm supposed to believe that a level 4 basic building is worth $17.50 by their figuring!!!!!!!!!!??? And a level 2 advanced is worth 3 bucks???!!!! Does this not strike anyone else as an outrageous pricing scheme either in terms of upgrade costs or in gems to coins conversion???

Sure that's a lot of gems. So make some free resources, sell 'em for coins, and suddenly it's not so outrageous anymore. Hardwood planks never go out of style, and they're 100% self-sufficient. Get your ratio of cutters/forresters/mills correct, and you'll have a never-ending supply of HWP to sell.

In short, don't focus on the gem/coin ratio.

^^ What Hob said. Yea the gem value of coins that you stated there does sound rather nuts but I wouldn't ever waste using gems to "buy" gold coins from BB. Plenty more things I can blow gems on while as Hob said I can sell self sustaining free resources for coins. I currently do a lot of sausage and sell it off for 35 coins a stack and it pulls in the coins fairly decent coupled with my own gold chain. They can't make it next to nothing to upgrade everything or people wouldn't stick around. Just "oh hey look everything's lvl 5 well this is boring"...So I figure that's their reasoning behind making the upgrades slow moving.

I don't buy coins with gems nor would I ever do so. I actually already run an economy based on marble and hardwood sales, but just thought it was relevant to point out how the game makers valued building upgrades, which is still ridiculous no matter how you get the coins for it.

I have come to terms with the high costs of Level 4 and 5 Upgrades. I am good with it. Makes it a challenge and a long term goal in the game to finish these upgrades. 38 more Farms to Level 4 is not going to fun, but it is something to work towards.

Agreed. I have 50 more farms to get to lvl4, But getting 4 I have to 5 was a good experience to do... so now I have a lvl5 bread chain!

The biggest problem I can see with upgrades is for the newer players wanting tro upgrade buildings to level 2. A lot of these are cash based and therefore quite difficult to achieve, maybe it would be better to have all level 2 building requirements as "Resource Based" rather than coin. Gwetting to 100 coin for each upgrade at low level is quite hard to do, although obtaining 100 Marble and 120 Hard Wood Planks is not so difficult. This can create a very poor balance in players economies and is worth looking at again.

Anyone know when the upgrade for gems will be available in the future? Ive been playing for a few months and would gladyl spend some gems to upgrade some buildings instead of coins. Any information would be great. Thanks.

I hope it never comes! I enjoy the hard work it takes to get these upgrades. If you could just click a button n use gems to get these upgrades what fun would that be? Thats just making you get bored that much quicker, imo.

Welll basically i see this game as a dieing game, they charge large amount of gems for ingame items that no one should buy cause they can sell gems to other players for te currency of 2gc per gem, so make the gems based off the trade not just random numbers. like it shouldnt cost me 35 gems for a stack of HWP's when thats 70gc currency and a stack of hwp sells for 12g. doesnt make sence for 90 percent of the items. 5k gems for a 250 general like yea lets spend 50 dollars so i can lose less troops... like if u want to make money off this game do it the right way, and implement gem to coin ratios in the trade. not oh buying silo send gold oh he logged off now im out 1500gc and BB couldnt care less.. so brutal and btw even if u have everything lvl 2 instead of lvl 5 whats the point in playing a game where all u do is make coin to spend it on stuff to make more coin? i dont get the lay out of this game like what keeps lvl 50's playing it? cause i know some people who make 15k gold a day basically meaning in 1 month time he has enough coins to upgrade everything in his town
and make more gold? to spend on adventures which make him more gold? like stop being lazy and figure out a good pvp system or atleast a better pve system not i sent my troops in they won huray lets build 200 more and do it again!!!!!
