    Noble REsidence vs Normal Residence

Perhaps I'm confused but I'm wondering why one would EVER lvl up a Noble residence if they have a regular residence. Leveling up Noble Residences only increases the pop. count by 10 but costs way more than leveling up a regular residence. This makes no sense monetarily. If leveling up Noble's costs more then give us more pop!

Regular Residence should never be upgraded. The Level 3 Noble gives more population than the Level 3 Regular. My honest opinion is that once you have the ability to build Nobles, start destroying and rebuilding with Nobles.

I'd appreciate knowing more. To my understanding you get 30 for a noble residence and 10 for a regular. Subsequent upgrades give you 10 each time for BOTH. Given that Noble upgrades cost way more why would I spend half again as much to gain the same population increase?

Cost per population is relative. If you can afford the cost to build and upgrade population, noble will allow higher yield. But if you can't afford noble, you are left with only "Regular" residence.

You should also think about how to balance your building licenses also. Sometimes it may be better to build another Noble or Regular residence vs upgrading them.

    Have fun!

You have the right of it, it is more expensive upgrading the Nobles to Level 3 than the Reg to Level 3. But those extra +20 Settlers you get from the base Noble Res really add up quickly. If you are going to use up Building Licenses for Residences, you might as well get the most bang for your buck. Plus as you advance, you have less demand for Marble and Hardwood Planks (a lot less demand) so spending the extra material is really insignificant.

Just to clarify, it's better to build Nobles if you can afford them BUT when faced with an upgrade and one of each type of residence then upgrading the regular residence is more resource efficient?

I never faced that choice. I started building Noble Res and tearing down normal Res and upgrading when the opportunity presented itself. It took some time but that is what this game is all about. If I had to make the choice, I would go with upgrading the Noble Res because I know at some point the reg Res will be torn down.

I understand your reply but I think you are missing my point. Yes it is beneficial to BUILD noble residences but upgrading them should be worth MORE population increase than upgrading a normal residence. They cost significantly more so I expect a requisite pop increase.

I understand your point. It is a resource issue. I agree with you it would be nice if you get a bigger boost from the upgrade of the Noble Res. But you don't. I believe it is still beneficial to not have any reg Res and just build Noble Res. Extra Settlers are extra Settlers and you should maximize what you can get.

Upgrading 10 Noble Res from 2 to 3 costs 7500 Marble and will get you a total of 500 Pop
Upgrading 10 Reg Res from 2 to 3 costs 3000 Marble and will get you a total of 300 Pop

4500 Marble is def worth the extra 200 Pop Capacity.

This is disingenuous. Upgrading 10 noble residences from 2 to 3 will net you 100 extra citizens. Upgrading 10 regular residences from 2 to 3 will net you 100 extra citizens. The ONLY benefit is the original benefit but you are charged more every time for Noble upgrades. It is an issue the developers should know that the players in the game are unhappy with.
