    Global-1 - Chat in English?

    Greetings.

Who exactly connects to this specific server? Is this supposed to be the US server or are there multiple countries connecting to it?

The main Global-1 chat was absolutely taken over by Brazilians tonight speaking Spanish. When people *politely* asked them to speak English, they started to call us racist names, swear at us, and tell us how they ruled this game and a lot of incredibly racist things both towards us and building themselves up.

So yes, then things got less polite on our side as well - tho still not *nearly* as bad as theirs. All we wanted was to not be what amounts to being spammed non stop on the main channel on an English version of a game. We are actually still being fairly polite and asking them if they could change channels as they keep insulting us now as I write this even... Not everybody of course is being quite as polite but it's getting old and their side has been rude ever since we asked if they might consider changing channels.

And speaking of that - there is absolutely no reason for this since all they have to do is change Global chat channels to speak in another language...

See the thing is that it amounts to spam to us - it might as well be garbled junk spam going by over and over. Spam is not fun. If there was only one chat channel I'd be open to more languages on the main channel, but since you can change to whatever global channel you want with "/joinchat global-#" where # is your chat channel number, there is no reason for the fighting and for us to be spammed by people who have no interest in speaking English in an English game.

They can simply make one of the channels their "official" Brazilian channel and go speak there. Why should they be the ones to change channels you may ask? Because they're connecting in to our version of the game!

This is the US server as far as I can see at the top of my screen in the Region Selection. If there is going to be this much trouble by them, I'd ask that they be IP banned from playing here. If this is a server that is supposed to be used by lots of different regions and I just don't see that, that's fine, please let me know tho so I don't make the mistake of thinking I'm playing a localized US version.

Next time the racist stuff starts I'm just going to report every one of them. I don't need to log on a server that says it's a US server and get bashed and told how great their Country is before they go back to spamming our channel non stop and taking it over.

Like I said, there's a way to change Global channels. We tell them that and they don't care. They just stay there and spam us, laugh, call us names... I'm *really* leaning towards blocking their IP to be honest if that's possible. I don't want the ones who are playing nice to be blocked but the problem seems mostly caused by people in one certain area which this server wasn't made for, so I say either the English is enforced on channel 1 or we simply do IP bans.

And please don't tell me how it doesn't bother *you* if you personally don't mind. Swears don't bother lots of people but they are still rude and not needed. This "chat" that amounts to garbled spam bothers a great many of us and it just is plain rude overall to spam us like that when they have the option to use any other channel number they want.

Plus seeing "Gringo" this and "Gringo" that every other word is getting old too... And no to he who asked - I'm not a Gringo, if you want to call me by that term I think you'd need to use "Gringa".

So anyway there is no reason we should all try to talk over each other when there are multiple channel options built in here. There also is no reason for them to be doing this on our game version, tho they are slightly different matters I guess.

I agree, seems that ubisoft is doing some sort of promotion aimed at the South Americans. But didnt use enough common sense to create a server for them!

it's a severe problem in global-1 right now. we either need a Moderator there to help sort this out or we need BB to make a server for the south americans... or dictate different globals for other languages. Zeus is the North American server.. and is supposed to be in English.

I had to report one of them for repeatedly calling americans a deragatory homosexual term...........there was no need for that kind of name calling by anyone

I find Mewmew's position to be wrong and slightly offensive. In no way does a server located in North America should mean it is a English speaking server.
North America is a land of mixed languages. America has no official language, Canada's offical languages is English and French, and Mexico has no official language.
So I cannot see Mewmew's point is not only invalid but it is likely racially driven.

I find all of this offensive as a Native American as well. If I speak Algonquian a TRUE North American language that should be respected. How dare you label all of North America as some English speaking land? Do you think we had no languages before you came? I cannot believe MewMew's blatant racism and how people openly agree with him here.

I am a little puzzled as to the problem.
There are around 6,500 languages spoken in the world today.
About 311 languages spoken in the U.S.
Around 162 of those are indigenous to the U.S.
    Around 149 are immigrant languages

I admit I haven't looked but I have not seen a rule requiring that people in Global chat one speak only English. I can't see a reason why it would make any difference at all to global chat.

In any case... English is only one of the written languages in the US. So unless Global starts to require only English it seems a foolish thing to get upset over.

The "speak English" type of attitude usually comes from white nationalists, who are usually racist and xenophobic. I think it is hilarious however
that they ignorantly think they can demand such on a server that is dedicated to North America, when Mexico is heavy in Spanish use, and Canada is known for its sizable French speaking population. Even if we forget about the indigenous languages which I speak one, and the lesser used it still certainly does not make North America a English speaking continent.

If a language gap is too severe to communicate with someone then you could always put them on ignore. They may not speak the same language as you but this does not dismiss their right to speak. Let them freely communicate with those who understand them. If you find this simple solution to be unreasonable than the problem is you, not them.
