Is there a maximum number of these guys that you can have?
I just bought my 2nd one with gold and am about to have enough eggs to buy a third... if I can have that many...?

I have 14. I believe the limit you can buy from the tavern is 3, and the limit with gems is 10. Add in the one you can buy with eggs and you're at 14.
