mines vs quarries and building permits
would someone please review the mechanics for me?
It seems if a mine (copper, iron, coal, etc) becomes depleted, then
1. you still have to tear it down so your geologist can find a "new" deposit
2. you don't get anything back, including your building permit
3. you will be charged another building permit for a "new" mine on the "new" deposit
If you catch the mine when it's running low, however, you can tear it down & then recover
a few materials, and more importantly, you get the permit back.
Is this right? And what about quarries (stone, marble)? They aren't really "buildings" since the workers
have separate quarters. Do the same rules apply?
My understanding is that there is a finite number of building permits one can get in the game, even at very high levels.
So if you continue using "new" permits to replace depleted mines, you're going to run out eventually.
Please straiten me out about this!! Thanks

I can answer a few, but not all b/c I haven't been paying THAT much attention.
1) I THINK that you have to tear it down.. .but not for certain.. someone else have to help with that one.
2) You DO get your building permit back once you tear it down regardless of whether it's depleted or not. I believe (I could be wrong) that once it depletes you get it back automatically hence the reason you think you didn't get it back.
3) You will be charged, but you had already gotten your other permit back
Quarries do not require any permits. Once it runs out.. have your geologist search for that resource and it will pop back up.

If a mine depletes, you automatically get your building license back (just check it for yourself). You can demolish the mine or just leave it there, it doesn't matter because you already got your building license back. When players talk about demolishing a mine before it depletes, not only to do force the game to give you your building license back, you also get back 1/4 of the resources you've spent to build the mine.
Now about tearing down a depleted mine, it's not necessary but you can if you like. I, personally, tear down a depleted mine just because I feel like it. If you've found all the available deposits and you send out your geologist, he's going to find the deposit at the same spot where the depleted mine is. So if you've found all 6 copper deposits and you have 6 depleted copper mines on top of them and you didn't tear down those 6 depleted copper mines, send out your geologist and he will find the same copper deposits at the same exact spot. He'll tear down the depleted copper mine and in place of it, a new copper deposit.

When you develop gold, iron or copper mines, they all produce ore at the same time until they are depleted.
Why is this not so for stone and marble mines. Only a few produce at the same time.

New player here. I've tried to tear down some mines that were almost depleted and I do not have that option. Am I missing something? Or do you have to be a certian level?
