How to Whisper and Chat on Global forum?

I can send and receive email, but cannot whisper or chat in global. When I click on someones username to Whisper, I get the text box but cannot enter text, or send. Same with the text box on Global - is there a setting that I need to adjust - cannot figure this out. Thanks

Probably got yourself banned for 24 hours, the moderator's do watch global more then people think - OR-

you are having problems connecting to the chat server, that happens sometimes, refreshing may or may not fix it but time will

depending on your computer screen, you may not have noticed that the box you type into is in the dark grey bar below the chat tabs. it can be hard to see.
