Length of producing resources trading makes it hard to remain interested.

I'm at Level 25, and on most days for most the day (I work on the computer so I leave it running) My thoughts are this:

While the game has great potential, I can already quite quickly see my interest waning. I attribute this mainly to the fact that it is overly difficult to get things done in the game. The amount of time refining resources and trading to make it possible to attack, makes it difficult to stay interested.

If I work all day, and am able to attack only once, and maybe upgrade one or at the most two buildings, it makes it difficult to want to keep going. Trade prices are driven down by established players with good resource building making it very difficult for developing players to compete, thus also slowing down the process at which they can develop and remain interested. In the beginning of the game, it is fairly easy to get attacks off on low level bandit camps etc, because of the cost of units and the relatively few units needed to successfully mount an attack, but as you get into steel swords - selling for 180 - 200 gold for a stack, it quickly becomes a waiting game, waiting to have the chance to attack once. And if you are waiting to make 180 gold to get swords to attack, you aren't upgrading.

I own all the original Settlers games, and I still play Heritage of Kings quite often. The pacing of those was great, if there were a way to keep that pacing while providing the ability to develop regions over time, that would be great. Perhaps have multiple maps and lands like the original games, and you reign over all, getting to choose the land you are developing and travel there to develop and fend off attacks etc. I'm not sure, but beyond development issues, there is something lacking.

My suggestion would be to put in more missions and opportunities for that level 20 group to make money without loosing units and resources. Or to make it possible to upgrade buildings with items OTHER than gold (make it a large amount of something else so the player has a choice) but the development of the resource chains are smothering the game play.

I have no attention disorder and yet I find myself losing interest very quickly at it's pace.

I suggest joining a good, adventure-oriented guild that share resources with each other to make advancing in the game a bit easier than doing it alone. Or if you're in a guild and still getting no help, find another one. At the very least, make friends with a few people for the same purpose. Just be sure to send a message first asking permission, as some people (myself included) don't take kindly to random uninvited friend requests.

Here's the way I see it...the game starts off slow, you have many different options/things to do to progress in the game. I personally went from lvl 1 to lvl 42 in 4 months of playing. Of course the reason I was able to do this is because I bought gems and bought every licenses and explorer available which made my gameplay much easier. The options listed above by other players are also ideas for you to use. Right now, I can see a problem occuring no matter what you do. 1) leveling faster, advancing faster, and becoming bored when you reach lvl 50 which you can EASILY do if planned out right and possibly "wanting to leave the game", or 2) not leveling fast enough, not advancing fast enough, becoming bored and again "wanting to leave the game". My opinion, they need to find a happy medium soon and find ways to keep interest in game for both: the rapid advancing players who buy gems and use many diff options to do so, and those players who dont buy gems and may not use many options available to advance quicker.

As for the things OP stated, there are MANY things you can do to not be in "your situation", question is, are you willing to use those options and are you willing to "buy gems" to really speed up your progress? Of course there are many option to use if you decide not to buy gems as well. Lack of knowledge is obviously the reason your experiencing what your experiencing, so a good guild will allow you to easily overcome that lack of knowledge

4 months i have been playing for 1 month lvl 32 almost 33 and easily cruising this game, maybe spent like 10 dollars on building licences on a gem deal" this game has nothing to offer for me after killing mary i get no more licences i get no more bandits other then adventures. which if im gonna do anyways i just buy loot spots because its cheaper and u make more gold then doing it yourself. idk make a trading branch not manditory so people can trade at lvl 1 if they need to lvl 17 trading is stupid cause u need to either spend 450 gems getting a branch worth 20gc in material or u have to wait a week till u ahve the mats to make it cause everything costs so much early, like i started during easter event week before it was over so i bought a trading branch with gems so i could sell eggs and buy my resources and actually start my town, with out that purchase i would probably never have played this game longer then 1 hour.

what they need to do is the speed up the trading revamp. trading should work similar to the AH (Auction House) of any major MMO.

I mean, you harvest resources offline, you make products offline, why cant u trade offline? trading while offline will greatly speed up the pace of the game and allow for a more fun experience

I am level 32 and bored. I have spent no money and I will not spend one dime on this game. There are no more bandits after Mary. You should be able to build a fleet and explore and invade other players islands. This "search for adventure" is all that is left and is very lame. Very lame.

I agree, there needs to be something more to do than just build armies over and over. I'd like to have other options for gaining xp points, and maybe some different kinds of adventures with challenges other than just doing battle.

How much do building upgrades effect production at each level for each building?
