    Preventing Trade "HOLDERS"

Okay , it seems the newest prank thing to do is to post trades every ten minutes and then hold all the traders requests and not accept or decline them at all, repeatedly , over and over and over every ten minutes for hours, this upsets a lot of folks and just keeps their stuff tied up for 8 hours untill it auto-deletes and returns it to them. Here is my suggestion to stop this
Set it up so that you can NOT post another trade until you accept or decline the previous trades sitting in your mail from the previous trade post.
That would eliminate this perpetual 10 minute posting and holding every ones resources up for 8 hours.

The entire trading system is being reworked and will be implemented in an upcoming update. One of the changes will be that any trade posted will be auto-accepted as soon as someone offers to complete it. This will effectively stop the holding going on presently. So your rant is rather pointless.

That sounds good; however I see a major downside for some. Let us say that I have a trade for 10 fish for 10 wood that for some reason is very popular. My storage fills up with wood. Any trade that is auto-accepted after that, and I lose 10 fish, but get no wood. The first thought is that one shouldn't offer a trade if that is a possibility. So, continuing this scenario, the trade ends after 10 minutes as usual. Now, players who haven't refreshed their trade tab still see the offer and accept the trade offer. Same thing happens.

What I would like to see is the same behavior as now, except to reduce the auto-decline to 10 minutes. I realize that some may put in a trade and then go off on an adventure where they won't see the emails; but it would be a small price to pay for equitable trading. It isn't like players can't check back every once in a while.

@TeaTime - check the Developer Diary in the Developer's forum.

Here's the relevant text from the most recent diary. Note that it doesn't say anything about auto-accepting, so maybe Entharion can share with us where that information came from.

    New trade system
We will be updating the trade system, making it more user friendly.

The trade window will be removed from the regular chat window and get its own new space.
In the future, you can trade more items at once, and all non-limited items can be traded. This includes self-produced buffs like the fish plates. Trading amounts will no longer limited to 400 units and it will be possible to place multiple offers on the market simultaneously. In addition, the new trade system will offer more filtering and selection options.

Agreed Hobnocker, no validation for Etharion's comments until he shares where he got that information.

The 'Buying' tab is selected. I see a message that reads: 'Transaction successful. Your new items have been added to your inventory.' Sounds pretty much instantaneous to me.

Your point is valid, however, I don't think the devs will allow more than one response to any individual trade offer. The direct acceptance of trade offers, combined with "it will be possible to place multiple offers on the market simultaneously" suggests to me that each offer will be treated as a separate instance, and therefore only able to be completed one time.

That could be, but that picture doesn't begin to show a workflow, just a snapshot in time. There's an "Accept offer" button beside that message, so who knows whether clicking that button with a highlighted offer instantly transfers the goods to your inventory, or merely sends an email trade off to the Seller, (as it does today), or causes some other behavior which still requires the Seller's involvement before your goods are traded.

Auto-accepting every trade offer from something I posted would be a bad idea. Just because I have 70k HWP in my inventory doesn't mean I want to sell 70K HWP when I offer to trade them for 15g.

I see you pic and would like to know how do I access that branch office window? I have a branch office and when I click on it the only option I have is to tear it down.

That's a picture from an up-coming release. It's not currently available.
