SCAMMERS, how they are getting into guilds

Recently we have had a problem with players at level 17-20 getting into our guild, and scamming us. They are doing this bu playing dumb role, they will sned u a whisper when u are on global seeking trades, asking to make a trade, then they either say they dont know how, or ather things, so u know they are low level, and then when u invite them into the guild, they got ya. there are two types, the stupid, which just starting to beg for a bunch of resources, and bugging people till they get kicked, and the much more dangerous ones, who stay a week or so, being a valuible part of the guild, and they gain your trust. then they decide it is time, when a bunch of people are online, they start whispering everyone for resources, starting with the most expensive, and moving doun the lidt, by the time the flags go up, they have bled a bunch of members out of alot more than the stupid ones can.

how do u spot them? look at there island, if it looks very organised, and everything is set up perfect, they arnt stupid, they are scammers. most of the scammers are multi accounting, with 2 or alot mere accts (one had 8). and they keep the account at a low level, so they can continue getting other guilds.

Just wanted to say my piece, and hopefully stop some guilds from being scammed.

someone recently mailed me, and i need to clearify one thing, i am in no way saying that all people with a well set up island are scammers. but in combination with playing dumb, and a well set up island, it is a very good indicator. if someone does the research to set there island up well, they have done some research, and studied the game some. they are not dumb. and wont act that way. just wanted to clearify it.

and if u are a scammer reading this, dont bother trying to get into KusH the ganja garrison, wont work, dont waste your time.

Our policy has always been to allow players in from level 1 and up.

Our members help out the new players with buffs.
When they get a branch office, we help with hwp marble and tools.
If someone starts acting like you say, they get booted.
It's only happened twice since we formed the guild.

This is very good advice. Hopefully these multi-account folks get reported. I believe having more than one account is against the TOS of this game.

I agree many people join a guild just for resources

We have the occasional issue with new members begging for resources, but this is usually from members brought in under our reduced fee recruitment times. Full fee members have never behaved in this manner. I can only imagine what happens in free guilds. Anyhow, a message of warning sent to the player and the guild is usually all it takes to nip this in the bud. There is a guild-wide mail system for a reason.

Yep FIRE has never really had this issue.... Most members we accept have well balance islands and may only need the ocassional resource they are short on and they trade fairly for it.

My guild does not charge a fee of any type at any time, and we have not had any beggars in our guild. The assumption that someone who pays large amounts of coin will not beg is ludicris. There is a less likely chance, but is not a guarntee, I find actually talking with the person and perhaps trading PRIOR to asking them to join is a good indicator-if you give them a real good deal on some resources and they don't say "hey thats too cheap" then they might be a beggar. If you notice I said might.

[TC] reviews prospective members' islands to ensure that they are self-sufficient before accepting a person into our guild. We also have a very clear-cut Guild Trade Policy (as well as clear cut Guild Rules) with specific limits that prevents beggars and also prevents pushing. It keeps things easy to manage, easy to calculate, and I honestly can't remember the last time we've had a complaint or a trade dispute within guild. Each new member is required to read the trade policy and guild rules and agree to them. It's simple, but effective.
