    New tt scam

just wanted to warn people about a new scam that i cought someone doing late last nite. i was cruising the tt, and i saw an offer of 400gc for 200 steel bars. i had abt 360, so i went to the steel bars, and paid above market value for them, i accepted the trade, and no confirmation, didnt think meck of it, refreshed and went thrue the tab again. when i got to the end, i refreshed again, and low and behold that same trade was up again, and those same people were selling steel bars above value again. i messaged the guy, asking him why he had reposted the trade again, and hadnt accepted mine. no answer, i promptly went to the steel bar area, and wrote the other names doun. looks like another dirty milti account trick has been uncovered. i mailed him again, asking what was up, and telling him the conclusion i had come to, and his posts disappeared. Why cant people just play the game honestly, it doesnt make sense to me. well just wanted to give everyone a heads up

I have seen some other things simular to what u explained...This is what is saw yesterday....A trader was offering a stack of sausage for like 30gc so i sent in a trade request...well no reply from seller for quite awhile so i scroll thru trades again and now he has the sausages for something like 50 balls... and still the original trade reposted again as well..This continued over and over for a few hours..needless to say 8 hrs later my offer was declined...maybe some think its ok and he has a right to sell an item for what he wants and he does no doubt , but dont keep my gold coins tied up in your little scheme...I think if you are putting something in the trade tab its so it can be traded. If i see it again today by that seller I will definitly stay the hell away from any thing he has to offer....

So let me get this straight. I'm new here so I apologize if I get confused or get something wrong.

You (OP) saw an offer that was almost too good to be true. You didn't have the resources to do the too good to be true trade so you went to purchase the resources needed above market value. You probably figured that you'd make it up once the first trade was accepted. The second trade goes quick, the first one never happens. You feel you got cheated because the person never accepted your first trade and you lost on the second trade. Now assuming that this is one person with two accounts yes they did something illegal. However if its two people then you got greedy and got burnt.

I've put a few really good trades up and I've often been flooded within moments of posting by multiple trade offers. Right after I hit 17 I had like 120 soccer balls and really needed brew. I posted a trade 5 soccer balls for 400 brew. I probably had 30 trades with in 2 min and I obviously didn't accept them all. All I can say was at least I was nice but i'm sure 28 people wondered why I didn't trade them. So something like this may have happened where you were not the first person to offer the trade and the guy just didn't decline it promptly.

Now what if my offer started a run on brew and people who couldn't do the trade instead went to buy the brew to do my trade? Say then that someone I know decides to sell stacks of brew at above market to make profit on the brew, that I will then turn down on the trade. This sounds similar to what the OP suggests happened. IRL this is called price fixing.

The real question is did the activities of the sellers violate the code of conduct?

My gut says no, since they used in game tools to make legit trades (remember if you offer and they accept its legit even if its not the price it should be). If anything I'd say let this be a lesson to everyone about any trade that is too good to be true.

the difference, is i accepted his too good to be true offer, and refreshed my tt, then obviously wasnt there, the next time i refreshed and looked, the person had reposted the same too good to be true offer, without accepting my trade. hence, the person was not planning on accepting yhr trades, or he would have accepted mine, when he was reposting.
this was not a case of someone running out of the resource, it was a case of someone trying to sell there resources far above market value. i can recognise a scam when i see one, and this was it.... or they wouldnt have reposted the same offer

why cant the developers add a 'pending trade' window so we can see all the trades that have yet to be accepted and a cancel trade feature should the trades not be accepted in a reasonable time.
Atleast that way the scammers have no final control over trades...

This is not a scam. This is called marketing. In planet earth, marketing is not about ethics rather than about profit.

    not a scam???? but marketing?????

if you do this in the stock market, yu will be charged, and go to jail. this is not marketing. this is a deceptive practice. I can't believe anyone would actually think this was any legitamite form of marketing. I guess that says something. lol

Greed drives this market, not laws, not rules, and certainly not morals. You just have to deal with it, and move on.
