I just want to thank you for keeping us up to date with all the info you can. I know how much of a pain it can be to keep everyone happy and content wile working on problems that arise as upgrades/ updates are being applied to servers and the sub problems that are not accounted for in the initial plan. I have managed many business servers and have had people breathing down my neck as im working on fixing the main cause of any problem then finding the sub issue fixes. Some of us are content with playing on the test server wile you work to repair our beloved server.
And this give me time to play another great game "Dawn of discovery" another game that would be great as a mmo

Replace the server, replace the drive, restore the program from the backup, reboot the server if necessary.

i have managed "business servers" as well.... #1 principle is NO DATA LOSS beyond what's agreed as maximum acceptable... as well as a plan for maximum possible outage duration. What we see here is failure of planning, obviously what we see is a scenario that hasn't been anticipated - resulting in HUGE data loss (aka "rollback") plus UNACCEPTABLE outage duration.... the whole IT team should go back to lvl1 support...
