Testing vs. Actual Game

Ok, so this might sound like a really dumb question, but I'm not very familiar with the testing, so bear with me. I logged in using my "normal" Settlers account info, and when I get onto the test server, it's almost exactly the same as my "normal" game: almost the same numer of settlers, resources, etc. But the numbers are all off...So my question is, does what I do in the "test" account happen in my "normal" account? Again...maybe a dumb question, but oh well!

It should happen outside, like in parallel is my understanding. When I logged into mine, it was like as if I hadn't touched it since the event began.

No Mustachioed_Man, they copied main server from 10/24 so you could test things on your own island. It is only a copy of your main account and nothing you do on the test server changes your actual account.
