1. to chat 2. i like the graphics 3. new challenges as you level 4. to chat 5. events / stuff changes 6. watching trolls flame each other 7. some mild intellectual stimulation (math skills, balancing island) 8. did i mention chatting?
I play this game, cause my friend told me about it, back in March2012, and love it, plus it helped me stay awake while my husband was recovering from a surgery in April, And this game did help me from going crazy...There are some improvements to be done in game, There are different kinds of settlers, and was told this is a good game, once you get started, and after lv 17 it get funnier, and some of the items need to have more treats to get done, like a potion for different things to happen, and the building licenses, are a big what if..problem,..Always out, and cant build my island like others below my level,,,. How do they do it. Did I miss out on info to do them, and how can I get more stuff in my island..I love this game better than other games on the internet...
I love the trading, building up your production chains,adventures, having a good time waster for when you are too tired to do anything, the social aspects, the graphics are amazing. in short just about everything!!!!
A wonderful time waster, with a fun community of people, and an awesome guild of people whom I love. I can play when I want, Though I perfer to get on twice a day to get my mines/water/fields up. I just really relaly enjoy playing to get together with my guild mates and chat.

That is a very good question.
I think because in a world where the illusion of control is wearing very thin it gives me a sense of being in control.
Probably quit once my buildings are all at level 5 and I am at level 50 since it's feeling like that is going to be boring.
