...so I've reached the point where this game feels like work, not fun. Everything seems to be about economic calculation and industrial efficiency in order to beat up those bandits just to do it again and again.
Before, talking on chat was satisfying, but now, even that's ruined. 99% of global is provocative and empty gibberish, nonsense, gobbledygook. People are unsophisticated, and they insist on saying stuff just to get heard rather than even trying a little bit to be clever. The wit you can see is people just trying to get others in trouble, or arguing about something as if everyone around is stupid.
Point being... the game needs more art, and it needs art which people can symbolize around with for fun. Yea, you can goof around by misinterpreting commodities and decorations, but there's nothing active or transformative. At best, you can move buildings around to make them look charming and symbolize something else when you buff them, but that's not entertaining very long.
Guilds are becoming rather boring as well. I've been in and out of several for the past couple weeks just to scout out how people communicate, and the overwhelming majority of communication is just economic drudgery. It's serious economics compared to global, but still, it's economics.
On the other hand, you occasionally meet established adults, but that deters from the semi-mature player base that's trying to find something fun to do IN ORDER to establish itself with friends...
...but I think what's ultimately completely turning me off now is how the trading economy seems bent on ruining "middle class" players. I described this before in one of my first posts (you can find it easily by searching my posts on my profile and scanning the first ones). Basically, newcomers can buy cheap goods, and experts can sell en masse, but if you're in that level 30-40 range, you're kind of stuck. Yes, you can do adventures, but let's be honest. Playing adventures on this is like playing any other real time strategy game at .0001x speed. It's so slow that it's a miracle if you're entertained by them more than once. People just grind them out in order to get experience to see that level number tick up, gather gems, get more building licenses, and... do it over again... just like busy work.
The trading economy provides some variety to this because you know you're influencing the construction of people's buildings and creating artistic trends... somewhat... but now... prices are just totally plummeting. I'm glad I stopped trading now because It doesn't look like I'll ever be able to make a profit from pressuring prices any longer. What I used to do was corner a market by buying everyone out, and then posting at a higher price after monopolizing demand, and then bought everyone out during the 6 hour posting interval to keep supply low.
Now, people are producing so much that it's just insane to try to do that, and you need incredible amounts of coins in order to sustain low supply to pressure buyers to get it while it's hot. At one point, I had 10k in liquid coins to do this with. Now, I'm down to a little over 4k after a few last ditch attempts, and I'm stuck with 100k in a few categories of commodities. That said, I'm still in the black since I started doing this with only 1500 coins to start...
...so yea, I'm bored, and dunno what to do in this game anymore. I whisper people, and we talk about... stuff *chuckles*, but even that's losing its sensational excitement now.
I'm actually taking random walks outside while this game is running just to look to mix things up. O.O
