My settlers are thankful they wont be burned and pillaged while I sleep, I am thankful that Ubisoft is working on changing this.

    Our Prayer of Thanksgiving

Prayer of Thanksgiving from John J. J. Schmidt the Woodsman:

On this day we thank thee for the blessed and fruitful land we live on,
For our quick harvest, 12 minute wheat,
For the Pinewoods and Hardwoods that cover our land
For the deliverance by our dear, and incredibly good looking, Mayor
Who vanquished the bandits, removed the clouds they covered our land,
and exiled the horrid, evil, floozy of a tree named Mary to parts unknown.
We thank thee for our new brew,
saving us from the wretched beer we quaffed a year ago.
We thank thee for our new watermill,
saving us from digging new wells every morning.
We thank thee for our new recycling program,
allowing us to cut back on our dangerous coal mines.
We thank thee for our silos,
magically letting us reuse our fields and not letting them grow fallow.
We thank thee for the miraculous conversion of our funny named, much limited Branch Office,
into a Trade Office, able to handle one thousand times as many goods.
We thank thee for bringing us a new great leader, our Veteran General,
such a powerful man, able to handle 50 more drunken troops than our old Generals.
We thank thee for our new, enchanted abacus,
giving us the wisdom on how many mines, smelters and woodcutters we need in our glorious land.
And lastly, we thank thee for providing lenient chat moderation,
letting our immature, perverse Mayor blow off steam outside our wondrous land,
saving our children's ears from his bizarre mind, and twisted words.

Please be with us in the next 12 months, let us build up our wealth and numbers.
And please, finally, we beg of thee, allow our Mayor to fight the other Mayors in game,
to keep him from killing our sons in fruitless adventures,
acting as if they are meaningless, replaceable young recruits,
to keep him from acting as a horrid Troll when representing our people in public
and lastly, to better occupy his time, so as to keep him from building senselss roads,
in his quest to impress the ladies with words and pictures on his Island.

    Amen

My little guys are very happy to know I built a big road system so they can visit friends and family. They are also very thankful now that all the bad guys are gone from the island they can call their own. Finally, they are thankful to know that the granaries always hold enough fish, bread and brew for everyone.

Ralph the Recruit was thankful to be home at last with his family. When he first found out that he was conscripted into the military he was already anxious. Then he discovered that the general he was assigned to was none other than the one known as "The Grim Reaper," and thought his future looked dubious indeed. The perpetually smiling skeletal face peering from underneath the black hood was enough to send tremors through Ralph's body. Those usually assigned to that general never returned. It was as though the scythe that he bore was aimed directly at his own own rapidly drumming heart. The march to the swamp was shrouded with dread. Each of the other conscripts were attempting valiantly to conceal the fear on their faces. Ralph knew they were called to a purpose. If they had to lay down their life to keep their empire safe, then so be it. Yet such bravado rang hollow in his ears as the cavalry fell around him and the mortally wounded soldiers lay thick in their own blood. If nothing else, the battle was quick. Faster than if he was with any other normal general. A small thing but at least something for which to be thankful. Almost as soon as the chaos began it was over. Ralph could hardly believe he was still standing. His bronze sword was nicked and slightly bent but a quick check proved that his body was without serious injury. When Ralph stumbled into his home again, a bit bruised and bedraggled, he was met with open arms by his wife Brenda the Brewmaster. He remembered the brew he quaffed before heading off to war but now Brenda had her special recipe prepared for him. Sitting once again at his own hearth, his two children climbed onto his lap. He toasted his good fortune and gave thanks for family and homestead.
