As we bow our heads this day,
We give thanks for the feast.
Fields of ripening wheat
Fresh water
Abundant fish and game
The skills with which to turn these things into meals with which to feed our people.
We give thanks for the wilderness
which has yielded a bounty of wood, copper, iron, stone, and marble
from which we shape our homes and tools;
the weapons with which we defend ourselves.
We give thanks for each other.
We thank our brave soldiers who give their lives in glorious combat
so that our farmers, brewers, bakers, miners, and artisans may live in peace.
So that their children may live in a free land.
And as Christmas approaches, our feast lacks only a single thing:
Chicken.

One settler family named Patricks were sitting around their table getting ready to feast of Turkey and all the trimmings. They sat back and started to reflect on
all they were thankful for. One by one they went around the table and shared what each were thankful for. Little Tommy was thankful for meat and bread. Susie
the oldest was thankful for all the handsome soldiers that were around to protect the island from harm. Midge, who was Paul's wife was thankful for her family and all the wheat that their farm produced. For they had a very excellent harvest this year. And lastly Paul looked around the table at his family and agreed with Midge that he too was thankful for his family, wife, good health and happiness for it was great being able to work in the friary. He stood at the end of the table and rose
his glass of brew to toast with thankfulness in his heart for another good year on the island.
