A quiet peace had settled over the Isle now that the Pumpkin Master had been banished. Nerves that only a few weeks ago had been frayed were now tingling in anticipation with excitement for the coming Holidays. Working freely, the settlers gathered in the harvests, setting some aside for the Great Feasts to come. The tavern was full once again, with many a settler tossing down brew after brew, regaling others with tales of hard fought victories. A few expressed their happiness at no longer needing to replant their wheat fields on a regular basis, for the silos now did this daily chore. Others were thankful for the various buffs that saw their yields triple and quadruple for days on end. Even the Grim Reaper took a Holiday from snatching souls to join in the mirth for he knew his day would soon be coming again. All in all, the people were quite thankful they had come through it all, intact, for no one saw the foreboding clouds just on the horizon.....ifthey had, they might have been thankful to have died in the last of the great battles....

To our leader, a lady brave and true,
We thank ye for our bread and brew,
For baskets, sandwiches, and fish platters
(That we hope won't make us any fatter.
For swords and soldiers that protect us,
And make the bandits not molest us.
We thank ye for events of enjoyment,
And also the lack of unemployment.
We thank ye for fields of golden wheat,
And pumpkins that make pie so sweet.
We thank ye for the wood that goes
    Into production of longbows.
    Thank you for marble and granite brought by you;
Without it the nobles would be homeless too.
But we're not homeless; that was only a joke
To make this poem all funny (I hope!)
    Thank you for horses.
    Thank you for our town.
Thank you for cavalry to run the bandits down.
Thank you for everything you've done this year.
    But more than anything else,
We thank you for an endless supply of beer!

As I look out over my fields of grain, I pause with a heart full of gratitude all that I have been given. We have peace in the Kingdom thanks to our powerful leader. He always makes sure we are stocked with supplies that allow us to do our work tirelessly and without complaint. We are thankful for our homes (although I would like a softer mattress) where we can see our friends daily. With the school system up and running, the knowledge our children are gaining is amazing. I am not sure about this internet thing, hopefully it is just a passing fad. Still, we are bound by ties stronger than ourselves as we build together this great land. Ok, back to work, this field won't harvest itself.

    My Name is Herkimer.
I am thankful for the sun that shines on our kingdom, that makes our grain and trees grow.
I am thankful for the many fish that swim in our waters, and for our fisherman who catch them.
I am thankful for our miners who harvest copper, iron, and coal so that we can defend ourselves against the evil bandits.
I am thankful for our masons and marble masons, and the cutters, foresters and saw mill workers. Without them I wouldn't have a home.
I am thankful for the farmers who tend our wheatfields, for the millers and bakers who make our bread.
I am thankful for the tool-makers. Without them, none of us would have jobs.
I am thankful for the brave military members, who defend us against the bandits.
I am thankful to live in this land of wonder.

I am thankful for the generosity of my friends and fellow guild members, and for the opportunity to give as generously as they.

As I (Irma) place my fruit into the baskets on this Thanksgiving day, "What is the one thing that I am most thankful for?" I thought to myself. Is it the fish platers that Fred the fisherman supplies me, or the freshly baked loafs of bread from baker Bob. But I must not forget about general Jhon who protects me from the bandits that hide behind the bushes, Steve the steel worker, Carl the copper smelter and all the others that slave from day to day making the supplies that our village needs to grow and become a great kingdom. Yes I am thankful for them all... but.....I really think the one thing that I am most thankful for is.....I am the only Woman one this Island!!!
