my guild list never shows when my guild mates are on, only my friends list does, my guild and all options never show the green light that indicates when someone is on. Does this mean I have to friend everyone in my guild to know when someone is on?

It doesn't matter if you add all your guild members to your friends list, they still do not show up. I have some of my guild members as friends and it still doesn't show up.

what is going on here? It sounds like everybody has this problem, what is ubisoft doing about it? How are we supposed to know who is on, you can't make new friends unless you know they actually play. I get the impression many in my guild don't even play anymore.
It used to work but with the last dev build they broke it. I hope they fix it quick.
This was a problem quite awhile back. They fixed it. Now the fix is broken. They need to find a fix, to fix the fix that is broken.
If something can go wrong, it will.
