When a normal geologist starts searching for Iron Ore, (1hr) - if you log out before he finishes it within the hour, it resets back to 1hr when you log back in. Thus potentially making you wait up to 2hrs total if you did it right before he finishes.

Or if you keep logging out and relog he will reset. it might not finish ever.
