Plan your island based on your supply chain. Look at top level buildings and do the math (or find a site that has done it for you) to calculate how many support buildings you need for it. For example, if you want to build a level 1 Steel Weaponsmith you'll need the following numbers of level 1 support buildings: 1 steel smelter, 2 iron smelters, 5 coking plants (or 2.5 coal mines), and 4 iron mines. A new building looks cool, but be sure you have the licenses/space to support them

Refrain from just jumping right into just any guild. Sit back and do your homework first. Watch how members of that guild interact in global-1, the help tab, and in the trade tab. You can tell which guild someone is in by their tag (the letters within brackets before their name). You can then look those up in your guild shield menu.

Most of the top guilds are worth waiting to join until you meet their recruitment criteria. The best place to go for guild information is

Ask questions about what a potential guild has to offer you. Do they have their own forum, website, adventure guides, activities, buff partners, game information, etc? How active are their members? Are they more focused on trade or on PvP or on the social aspects of the game?

Joining a guild that is a good fit for you can make all the difference in advancing in the game as well as your enjoyment level.

Trade Office is a great resource.

Don't just accept the prices in TO. Put in your own offers. Bid low. If you don't get it, raise price next time.

    Pro tip - resource management

Its ok, to pause some buildings - two reasons
    a) to direct resources to a specific goal
    b) to save resources until they can be used in a buffed building

At the medium boss camps on home island, send only calvary units until dogs are removed and better still enemy longbow users. Your general will lose, but you won't waste troops except the calvary.

Keep a healthy stock of pinewood logs later in the game because many production buildings feed off of the raw material. like bows and coal for instance.

lol glad someone else was thinking the same thing as I was... no offense to the majority of the advice or tips people are posting .... but a lot of it is wrong or may be slightly correct for that person posting due to that persons level/stage and how they play the game...
