The gold chain takes is high maintenance, yet it is probably some of the best buildings to earn your resources back. (Even though it seems expensive. It's better than spending the resources to upgrade 15 marble masons.) Upgrade coinages prior to upgrading your smelters, but make sure you don't run out of the resources to make gold coins

Invest the time to develop a regular trade partner. Either someone to whom you sell commodities daily to provide you a source of Coin, or someone from whom you buy daily to satisfy your industrial needs.

If you buy an Endless copper mine, don't upgrade it all the way to level 5 on a regular copper deposit, but search for a deposit that can be mined faster using a geologist with the Quality Copper Mine skill, and build it there. Then your Endless copper mine will produce twice as fast, and that's when you'd want to upgrade it all the way to level 5.
When doing adventures that require multiple generals, when one general loses you can send your other general back to pick up more units while the general is healing. the extra units can be stored on the island and will be transferred back to your main island via transport.
when sending an attack with possible blocks, always check the garrisons at least twice for the composition of troops.
Have several Generals and transport one with a full complement of men to an adventure while you leave the other one at home building more troops. From the star menu you can then go back to your home camp and continue building, buffing and creating troops and switching back and forth. Send your new General to the adventure when you are getting low on troops, transfer any extra troops over and send the other General back to the Home base to start the process all over.
When special events occur like Christmas, Halloween, Easter etc... , a lot of gold can be made from trading the special event resources in the trade office. Usually, the prices for event resources are highest in the first couple of days of the event.
