Have multiples generals when doing an adventure and take all of them with you that way you can send one back to get more troops over and over to and use the ones you left at the adventure to play.
The time it takes for a camp on an adventure to "burn" is dependent on the number of types (and what type) of troops survive the fight. If you are trying to destroy a dark castle and one surviving general has recruits and soldiers only, while the other general has recruits, soldiers and militia, the latter will destroy the building faster.
This is especially important when designing blocks later on as cannons have a huge impact on burn time. Including 1 cannon in every non-suicide attack tends to drop destruction times of camps in half. When dealing with witch towers, castles, and watch towers this can save several minutes throughout an adventure.
This also means with close blocks, the "blocking" general if it survives the fight will burn the camp twice as fast if two types of troops survive. This few second difference can be the difference between a successful block and rebuilding a few hundred soldiers/cavs/elites
