@AquilaPlume TSO tips
And here is the promised full list in one place.
The following tips are all around 140 characters long since they were formatted for my twitter account.
A lot of these tips stem from questions people asked me about the game and things I thought might be useful or interesting to know.
Trade:
TSO tip: If you want to sell 4000 sell it in lots of 1000 x 4 You'll reach the low quantity buyers as well as bulk buyers.
TSO tip: Paying 6 coins for a trade may seem high but if you make sure you put in 4 lots that's only 1.5 coins each.
TSO tip: Plan to build your Trading Office as soon as it becomes available. It is one of the most important buildings you will ever own.
TSO tip: How many of an item to sell/buy: Think about rarity. Marble can be bought in huge (10K) amounts but granite is a lot more rare (1K)
TSO tip: Keep an eye on your free trade slot. When something gets sold there and you have more, cancel the sale and restock the lots to 4.
Production:
TSO tip: Keep your water production at an overage of what you will need to produce deer musk daily. Look at the Economy Overview for help.
TSO tip: Place resource buildings near source, building material buildings near storehouses with end of line buildings a few steps further.
TSO tip: The best thing to buy with gems are building licences. More production, more coins.
TSO tip: Gold production chains should always be buffed when running for them to be profitable.
TSO tip: You'll always profit more on swords if you produce them from mine, to smelter, to sword. As long as you keep them all buffed.
TSO tip: The trick to mass producing one item for profit is to have as little upkeep as possible on resources needed to produce.
TSO tip: Example for last tip. Invest in silos & watermills for bread; coking plants for swords; deerstalker huts for sausage; etc.
TSO tip: If you have an open spot next to a storehouse and no plan to fill it with a resource building, place a well there instead.
TSO tip: To control when your buildings use resources put them to sleep by clicking the stop square in the building's window.
TSO tip: If your building's asleep & you'd like to buff & run it again; buff first then turn it on to get the waiting product buffed also.
TSO tip: With buildings at same level & a small negative in production, move the buildings that cause negative a bit further from storehouse
TSO tip: Don't level mines to 5 unless you're ready to monitor and refill them often. Otherwise you're left with offline mines and no ore.
Buffs:
TSO tip: If you have a buff partner, always have your daily amount of buffs in the star menu. Use one buff, make one buff.
TSO tip: A good buff partner, buffs the buildings you requested daily and messages when they can't. Time of day doesn't matter.
TSO tip: When buffing wait until the buildings are bright again before buffing the next building. Buffing too quickly results in missed buffs.
TSO tip: If you can't find anyone to exchange buffs with, find a friend with time and send them yours so they can buff you with them.
Adventures:
TSO tip: When sending troops to an adventure, load up your first attacking general with the armies needed for the first bandit camp.
TSO tip: Training troops: Keep same amount of settlers unemployed as amount of unused building licenses plus exhausted wells on your island
TSO tip: Veteran and Battle Hardened generals will walk at the same speed as tavern generals but will fight twice as fast and finish battle quicker.
TSO tip: Keep backup settlers stocked in your star menu so that when you lose troops you can quickly train more and get right back to battle
TSO tip: To receive loot from an adventure that someone else completes, a person need only kill one enemy. XP will reflect enemy kills.
TSO tip: Only 2 adventures at a time can be active. 1 you started & 1 you were invited to join. Never 2 you start or 2 you get invited to.
TSO tip: If you can't transfer your general to a spot that should be open in an adventure, try going to your island then back in the adventure.
TSO tip: If an adventure, for example, asks to kill less than 500 recruits, bring 499 recruits and replace the rest with militia.
TSO tip: Build a storehouse at the bottom left in sector 1. Generals land there after adventures & use storehouses to travel to adventures.
Buildings:
TSO tip: Don't get rid of the exhausted builds. Keep them so you can remember where to place and what's left for the geologist to find.
TSO tip: Place housing and non resource buildings in areas that don't permit clustered formation of buildings and away from storage.
TSO tip: Upgrade from the bottom up. Ex.: (first) forester -> cutter -> coking plant -> smelter -> swordsmith (last) This way none run out.
TSO tip: Don't upgrade the same buildings at once. Production stops while upgrading and you will be left with none of that particular item.
TSO tip: Going away? Now's the time to do mass upgrades. But be sure to log in daily or your island will go on auto sleep stopping upgrades.
TSO tip: Try not to upgrade noble residences past 3. You'll be wanting to replace those with deeds from the gem store or from other players.
TSO tip: The sectors(zones) on your island are numbered like you see on the number keypad. 1 at the bottom left, 9 top right.
TSO tip: 1 medium wheat field per lvl 3 farm should last a day. If space permits, place backup fields. You will need those at higher levels.
TSO tip: Instead of adding more of one building than asked for by the main quests, level them. You'll need the licenses for future quests.
TSO tip: If you're stuck and need a quick temporary building licence, tear down your tavern. You only need it when purchasing specialists and it's cheap to rebuild.
Guild:
TSO tip: To help your guild, when buying in the trade office, search for the names of online guild members first.
TSO tip: If it's impossible for you to do a guild quest you'll still be able to receive the main quest guild coins. Now's a good time to help other guild members finish.
Explorers:
TSO tip: Always send explorers on treasure/adventure hunts. A 24 hour search isn't so bad. Nice loot & their return matches your online time

Recruit
Silo Placement: put your silo next to your storehouse, then the field, then the farm. The silo will stay a few seconds ahead of the farm to keep the field full. If it is buffed 4-5 hours a day (a basket from a friend when you're offline is perfect) a level 5 silo will keep a medium field going for two level 3 farms.
If you consider the southeast face of the building as its 'front' -- create a hexagon around a storehouse with a silo on each side, a field and farm side by side in front, and another field and farm side by side in back. Place the third and fourth farms outside the hexagon, to the other side of each field, so there is a farm on either side of each field. A basket buff once a day on the two level 5 silos will keep the two fields working for the four level 3 farms. Level up the silo to level 3 right away, with level 1-2 farms. As soon as you can, level up the silo to level 5, and the farms to level 3.

Fisherman Placement: it is not necessary to have a fisherman by each fish deposit. There are several locations where there are 2-3 deposits together. Put as many fishermen as you want (6 is good) around those grouped deposits, and keep those deposits loaded up with fish food. If you want to fish out the free deposits, move a level 1 fisherman around the island until the deposits are all fished out. Grouping the fishermen makes it easier for someone else to buff them, and for friends to see if you are low on fish (and hopefully load you up if you're offline).

Recruit
Hunter Placement: like the fishermen, it is not necessary to have a hunter by each meat deposit. In sector 9 there are two meat deposits together, making that a good location for a group of hunters with a storehouse nearby. They can share the storehouse with the gold mines. Move a level 1 hunter around the island to clear out the free deposits. Load up the group of deposits every few days and forget about them. Having them together makes it easier for a 'buff buddy' to buff them and to refill your meat deposits when they get low.
