Question New Player looking for some advise

I just started playing The Settlers Online yesterday (May 27th) late afternoon. I'm level 23 right now and almost have my fifth region cleared of bandits. The problem is that I jumped right in and didn't do my usual research that I do before I start playing a game, especially MMO games. The first 19 levels went fairly smoothly but since then things have gone downhill. My usual neatness and efficiency seems to have abandoned me in this game and my island is a mess as is my economy and production output. As I tried to offset my deficiencies, I started purchasing and trading items to fill needs which of course led to a depletion of GCs.

    So here is my question...

Do I stay with this and try to fix it (if it is fixable. Is it? ) or do I abandon this one and start a new one (which goes against my grain)? Or is there a way to restart on the same account? Any advise would be appreciated.

On the log in screen on the right side is a link to new player guides. All kinds of info available there.

I didn't stabilize my economy until I started producing Longbows I think.

Fix it. Definitely. You can pay resources to move buildings, but in the end, just upgrade stuff and build stuff until your economy is back together. Also get into a habit of renewing deposits every day so you can always have the mineable and quarryable resources.

AOPSUser, I too am from MMO's and I am the absolute worse farmer and eco, I am a war player forever and just not bothered with farming except to make it produce tons of peeps and tons of weapons, could care less really bout the rest of it.. so here's how I cope.

I make tons of friends, I learned from them, they help me out allot and tell me what to sell to make GC when I need it. and its worked out for me great. although I am not at all embarrassed to admit I am awful at farming stabilization.

I love this game a ton, and the peeps and the creators.. This is the only MMO where management is actively involved in our global chats.

If I were you, I'd go to that help tab, and friend Khamuul .. try to meet Sirgregor and ask him about your problems directly. he is advisor to me too.
the best gold guy is Lawlumad.

I search guides n forums til I drop, when all else fails I start asking my friends... here is a link to help ya get started:
    http://forum.thesettlersonline.net/t...ial-Guide-List

If you are truly interested and are gonna stick this game out, do then Contact Kvas ... write him and tell him Asia sent u...
he will help u as he is the very best player of buildings and money making I've ever seen play, he is the fastest leveling next to Sidv I ever seen too...
    hope this helps!

Thanks for the advise everyone. I started the process to have my account deleted so that I can restart the game. I really made a shambles of my island with buildings kinda haphazardly placed - I've got some of everything but nothing maximized. I seriously considered moving the buildings and trying to salvage the wreck but there is just too much to fix. I'm a perfectionist and that island was driving me NUTS. I hit level 23 and 5 cleared zones in a little over 24 hours but to do so I was spending gc like it was free, AND I spent a huge hunk of my gems before I realized that I could make bread settlers to keep my military moving along.

After I realized how bad my game was looking, I finally did what I should have done in the first place and came to the forums and started reading guides. Then I came to the realization that my game wasn't just bad, it was horrendous. Sooo, I found info on asking to have your account deleted which is currently the only way to restart the game. Instead of rushing through trying to level (which I never do in other games), I should have taken my time and done it right. Like I said, I'm a perfectionist. The second time around I'll get it right and it'll be picture-perfect.

Now I just gotta wait until they delete my account so that I can get back at it.
