The COST goes up for all the books if you build each one past 10.
I just tested it on the test server. TOMES went up to 350, 240, and 2 Manuscript.
(Not sure if it was after 10 tomes that the cost goes up but it definitely goes up.)
The cost of the manuscript went up by a lot. I went to from 11 gold to 12 gold to 13 gold.
if you keep building manuscripts it will screw you over.
the cost does not go back down when you consume the books from the previous tier either.
Here is my constructive feedback. BB needs to make players aware of the COST. Have some sort of chart in the help/archive.
Players are not aware of this. Also, most players do not realize that the science system is used later for explorers and island upgrades. So people will be spending their books and then later its so expensive they can't make any more for the other talents.
Is this a BB trick?? forcing us to spend gems to get 100% refund on books?
Bait and Switch tactics?
The players are not aware of these things unless they read it on the forum from other players and even so this thread is so hidden.
What happens when you ask for a 50% refund? do the cost of the books drop ??
If the cost keeps going up- eventually these buildings will be worthless nobody will want to spend anything to use the book binder.
Couldnt agree more. Resources are annoying at times, but you can always get more. What we DESPERATELY need is a queue in the Bookbinder. I knew the times were going to be long but I had no idea just HOW LONG until I read Stalldor's post earlier. And this "Book Costs increase after 10" is news to me and quite disheartening. I was anticipating the Science System and still think its a great idea, but some minor adjustments need to be done.
However, and I know a lot of you arent going to like this, we asked for new material, we posted threads and comments fussing and cussing about being bored (myself included) and wanted stuff NOW not later. Who are we to complain now that theyve given us what we asked for, but it still needs a few changes?? I still say: Well done BB. With a few minor alterations this will be a great addition to the game....now how about that PvP update?? lol
lol..."book cost increases after 10" sounds quite innocent...what's few extra nibs cost, nothing...till you realize need more manuscripts and tomes to complete codices at these higher levels, making 1 codex in 60+ range will take what...10 days or so? w/o queue it's likely to take 2 weeks....since you need to make 9 manuscripts, 3 tomes and finally 1 codex....
Underwhelmed with the increasing tome and manuscript costs at higher levels for codex's/tomes.
This PENALIZES players EXTREMELY in the time needed to fill out their specialists. I can understand increasing resource costs, but this? really? too much time is needed as it is to fill out even a fraction of my specialists.
More of the same "new" content with a different bow? I will give more of the "same" towards my gem accumulation.
So basically, I spent real-life money to buy gems for savage scouts(10), jolly gelogists(8) & a battle hardened general(1), and my thank you from BB
is to poke a stick in my eye. If you play for free and only have one geologist, 2 explorers and 2 generals, it's all good. Way to go Ubisoft!!

Another criticism, besides the lack of a bookbinder queue, & the increasing cost of books, is market glut of book parts. We have already seen that simple paper, intermediate paper, nibs, and printing type are being produced much faster than anyone can use them. Prices in the Trade Office have come down, and will continue to come down until the logs, copper, and iron are worth more than the book parts made from them, simply because growth in supply outpaces demand. The parts for the codex will do the same eventually. The market can remain lively only if book production can be speeded up with a queue, availability of glue, and possibly allowing more than one bookbinder per island. (The second or third bookbinder could cost more to construct, be licensed as a reward, or be available by gem purchase, so it's not too easy to get them.)
