Am I wasting balloons and resources?

So if this first phase only goes 4 days...no server will reach 100% at this rate....is it a waste to be donating them now?

from what i can tell, no.

You will be rewarded for what you give, but i am almost sure that there will be a balloon wipe.

The BB's just started 3 new contests, the Event wasn't tested so there is absolutely no one who knows for sure what is happening. (other than the BB's)

Ok, because if I donate all my balloons now, I wont have resources to convert for phase 2...and the rewards seem much better for the longer time we have to complete phase 2. Of course we don't know what the rewards for phase 1 are. Already donated 6Kish balloons and wondering if I should donate another 13k just sitting in storage.

I do wish they would clarify if we all start over on collecting balloons if we make it past the qualifying round which is taking place now. I would like a definite answer not a guess. If they do not start us all over after qualifying then we can go for broke now without worrying about later.

the balloons we collected and donated get erased after phase one and start from 0% again.

yeah but if we don't get to 100% in this phase we don't see any of phase 2 according to the info in the Event Window under your avatar.

Plus what else would you use balloons on anyway, there's not merchant items to buy with them.

But that's not what they said in the diary, they indicated that servers that failed in the first phase would be grouped together so that they'd have a shot of winning as a group.

THE SECOND PHASE OF THE EVENT
Key facts related to the second phase of the event:

The balloons from the first phase will not be included in second phase results.
During the second phase of the event, certain game worlds will work together (results) in order to achieve a common goal and compete with servers that have stronger economies.
The task is to reach as high as possible result (percentage).
3 types of rewards that every game world can get: reaching 100%, 150% and 200%.
2 international rewards: the fastest game world and the game world that donated the most balloons during the second phase.

Or maybe I'm crazy because I could have sworn that they said those that didn't make it phase 1 would work together in phase 2.

1. Will balloons gathered during the first phase affect the second phase results?
No. Balloons acquired during the first phase of the event will NOT affect the second phase results. This means that all balloons you get during the first phase should be used during the first phase - they will lose their value at the end of the first phase.

2. Does this mean that all unused balloons will be deleted with the start of the second phase?
No. We will not delete any balloons, but please keep in mind that balloons from the first phase will not affect the second phase results.

3. Can I store balloons from the first phase in my storehouse/star menu and donate them during the second phase?
Technically, it will be possible, but - as stated above - balloons from the first phase will be taken out of the second phase results calculation, hence doing so would be pointless.

Did the requirements change all of a sudden? now it shows that 5 servers are already at 100% and the rest are much higher than before.

I suspect that the requirements didn't change it was more that people logged in and put in their balloons - most players I suspect are not on during the day so the balloon donations will be trickling in over the course of the day and shoot up in the mornings and evenings when players sign on and make their donations.
