Silos are filling distant fields

My silos are now re-filling fields on the other side of my island while the fields next to them are depleting. Why are my silo workers going on 2+ minute trips to refill fields that still have 400+ wheat when the fields they are next to are running out of wheat? Is this something new? There really isn't much point in having silos if this is the way they are going to work. I have a request in to support on this, but no response yet.

You'll notice it with your foresters also. Maybe the lower resource, the higher the priority to be refilled regardless of distance..... But yeah, kills the effectiveness of your resupply buildings.

they will do that when the closest fields are full.
the next cycle they will not be full and the silos will go back to them.
as long as you have enough silos and their travel time is less than the farms, your fields should not run all the way out.

I set mine up so that my fields with silos need one field replace every couple of weeks. Prevents those sightseeing trips.
