Lament of the Recruit

Lads line up at barracks
Able and ready to slay
Muscles somewhat trembling
Each one armed for play
Naïve we know they are
Targeted for death this day

Over the water they ride
Floating to enemy isles

The general sends them in
Harm comes in their way
Every last one perishes

Recruits live hopelessly
Enemies chew them to pieces
Cowards though they are not
Risking their lives for victory
Under the sword of death
Into the fray they march
Trusting their death be not in vain

Settlers Farming

Sunshine on our shoulders
Enemies out of sight
Tilling wheat with hoe and spade
Toiling villagers plowing
Laborers resting in the shade
Everyone does their part
Reaping wheat and hay
Settlers have their purpose, each and every day

Fertilizers enrich the earth
Abundance of crops--huzzah!
Ready the bakeries and breweries
Mills operate when we play
Island fields are shining
No stones get in our way
Good earth, good farms, all day!

Everyday
Requires
Skill

Only
Nobody
Likes
Inexperienced
Newbies
Excelling !

So many years, 20 to be
Exact
Time spent building mines
Talking with friends
Learning how to defeat camps
Earning gold and treasure
Recruiting military
So much fun

Only to be had
Nowhere else
Listing goods to trade
Interacting with
Newbies
To help them learn
Everybody wins !

Has been finished but not completed
Even though I am now 32

But I have submitted

Ticket
Though no response or credit have I seen
Looking to see a little help
Eventually !

If only I had more bread.
Settlers need bread also.
Horses need wheat and water.

Generals fight their enemies
Each and every bandit camp
Not to mention adventures
Ending all enemies
Recruits and other men fighting
All the way to the end
Losses though, are great
Such life-risking times!

Elites need brew and damascene sword.
Watermills can make water for brew.
