Are they this unprofessional for the .com? or do they reserve it for the .net alone? Honestly, "we know there's a problem but don't know exactly what's causing it to do about it at the moment" is perfectly acceptable -- hey, it happens -- but when you commit (via generic error message) to provide info on the homepage, forum, twitter, or whatever, you do it or you look far less competent than the above quote.
