Game's gone horribly imbalanced. What BB intended to originally be played at a slow pace, theyve deliberately made it such that any form of progression has been trivialized. Its a serious threat to the longevity and engagement of the game as players have absolutely nothing to work towards and few end goal objectives.
Of course if theyre intending to release new content, new buildings and resources, i stand corrected.
It looks like its a desperate attempt to boost gem sales, though i understand they need revenue from somewhere, whats going to happen once players have all the specialist skills maxed, or all their islands filled with frozen manors? They will demand new content. Wouldnt be surprised if BB releases a new Premium+ to appease the masses next.

I use to dream of FM.. I was saving GC like crazy just to afford 5 of them...
2000 gems later today I now have 6-7 and I feel dirty and unfulfilled.
I really do think the best building in the game (pop wise) should not have been so easy to get and BB messed up

The best content in game should only drop at random from adventures... imo.

It will take 10 years to max all my specialist or $3000. Stop winning about imbalance. I'm not happy with science system 5 manuscripts, 3 codex to make 1 tomb! Most of the upgrades we have to have are useless!

Finished 14 return to the bandit so far.
got 20 manuscript, 4 tome, 2 codex.

also the granite drop rate seems higher, about 11~12 of the 14 drop 750 granite. exotic wood only drop 2~3 times.

Done about the same here.... from the Books, i've gotten only Manuscripts/Tomes.... so it seems like Codices are a rather low drop chance... at least that...

1 out of 20 for codex so far , was hoping for cheap codex since it takes 10 manus and 2 tomes now but oh well....better than nothing I guess
