Barracks freezing when trying to produce military units

This just started happening to me.

I open my barracks and queue up some military units for production. It doesn't matter how many, and I do have sufficient resources. I click "OK" and then I see the little spinning hourglass. It used to be that the hourglass would spin a few times and then production would start; but now the hourglass just spins and spins and spins and production never starts. I tried logging out and logging back in, and also restarting my browser cache in case it was some kind of issue with cookies, but that still didn't help. I'm playing via Chrome on a Windows 8 machine.
