The Problem with Collectibles (spawn points)

After awhile, I have started to notice that spawn points for the collectibles are very 'fixed/predictable' locations. Sure they'll randomize which of those locations will get a spawn but the spawn points are fixed.

Previously I suggested, using flower beds or decorations to cover up spawn points so that you can narrow your searches. Well, overtime, I noticed that I was getting less and less collectibles.

The problem here is that if you cover up spawn points, you will get less.

I was consistently getting 16-17 collectibles only, when before I was in the 20-30s. So I started to remove some spots that were known to be spawn points and tested my theory- and sure enough I got more collectibles.

What does this mean?

Well, the more buildings and decorations you have on the island, the less collectibles you will get. The low level players will certain have more of an advantage over a high level players. They're probably getting 30+ collectibles at a time.


So you can stop buying those flower beds and filling up your island because it doesn't control their spawn points. It only hinders you from getting more collectibles.


The tip that I normally give dancers applies here. "The more you cover up, the less you will get."

Less is more. I have a lot of empty spaces, I've been getting 28-34 collectibles. The arrival of the collectibles crashed flash on 2 of 8 instances.

I have been buying collectibles in the trade office. Like most resources, the sky is the limit, a person could collect thousands of resources in a good day of trading.

Well if you like less collectibles, then I guess you can buy more decorations and flood your map with them and you'll get less. :-)

Everywhere collectibles spawn. If you don't want to see it spawn there anymore, just click on it and put a flower bed there. it will won't be coming back. keep doing this and you eventually get no collectibles.

I was referring in part to the dancers, less is more $.

I thought all islands were receiving the same amount. I agree that someone in development should have considered it.

No this not the case. After extensive testing on the live server- I figured out what is going on with collectibles. Couldn't have done this effectively on the test server. Took too long and they ended up releasing the feature.

But this WAS something I had mentioned to developers on test server. I said what happens if people covered their island with decorations and there are no building spots left. But they ignored that- and released it anyways.

Since the Christmas event ended, I have been getting between 8-13 collectibles. My island is fairly crowded but there are still a good amount of open spaces left. So for comparison I wonder what everyone else is getting. Definitely worth asking guild members about.

They might have a certain number of spawn points, and up to a point deco makes it easier, before finally bringing it down once you go under 20 spawn points (just a guess).

My collectible count has gone down as well to 9-18 ?

With the Xmas events I located more spawn points than I had previously remembered...pre Xmas I found on average about 45% of them, when Xmas hit, I got 90%+ right off the bat (I might add I do "one round of known locations" and ignore them afterwards, save I find one when putting buildings to sleep etc).

So with now more known locations to me, my average is around 80%+ ever since. My island is...well completely full and mostly a waterfarm, I haven't dropped any Deco stuff though and those rather fixed spawn locations have been fairly obvious after then 2nd or so week or the introduction.

Still would be neat if they wouldn't spawn inside mountains, though I think I got the 3 locations down now on my checking round hehe

They introduced more total spawns during christmas. usually have like 8-19. During christmas i had 25-40
