Does the term AWOL mean anything to you?

I was assigning troops to a Vet during a Black Knights adventure.
I clicked on the Elites and 300 vanished. I checked the replays of my battles and checked the
home island and the Star menu. No sign of them. I ended up making news ones.
This may just be an issue with the game mechanics.
