Last May they had a developer's diary giving us a road map.

So far Developers have failed to address the PvP situation. It's been a year now.

Unless you're visiting HLT, then the roads are reappearing on the map.

There is not going to be anything new and exciting (apart from some shiny fluff and puff from events and gem shop). Why?

The game clearly follows the plan set since the original ideas. Those were set and room for them was developed within the code for future expansion. The current dev team clearly is not going to touch the code for anything major. Some patches and fixes and additions and that's it.

It became evident for me when on pts they tried to change the wood production and hit the brick wall when it was obvious the size of tree deposits needs to be increased in order for the new wood workers behavior to work. The dev team quickly let go of the idea. They don't want to touch the code itself.

And this is pretty much it. Everything that the game supposed to have developed from start (in the future) will be there. And I am not holding my breath for some new and exciting stuff we don't know yet about. If the dev team is afraid to change the size of tree deposits (messing with original code design) you think they will take a chance to start some major changes and development of new stuff?

Patch up jobs from now on, finishing what was already made room for (pvp) adding few things (as a work around for stalling points as they appear as the game grows) and that's all. Best example is the 25 troops training issues. Had to create a new bldg with a different slider cause the old is set and you “can't touch this”. Have fun with what you have, enjoy few new more shinies from events and gem shop and … Go play something else when you are done

How is this for something new and exciting: Redesign of home island. Setting your own areas for specific production, replenishing ability and increasing the size off all deposits, changing the landscape of your home island to allow more efficient settings, production (within some margins of course). Sounds good? There is an opportunity for a year of slowly introduced abilities, changes and new things. You think it will happen? With a dev team to give up on changing the number of tree deposit from 5 to 50 for example? Lol get real :P

you are absolutely correct. seems like the dev team are 'hacks' not real programmers. they're afraid to make any major changes because its probably too hard for them to do. probably fail to code new stuff or fail to read the old code and figure out how to modify them.

they're modifying only simple changes around something basic. it took them a very long time to fix zone crashes and moving buildings. to the point where they had to disable moving building hoping that would fix the problem.

all the new stuff we're getting are just work around. they need to hire a real dev team. but then again those guys are focusing on anno. and have put settlers on the back burner.
