[UBI Official] Negative Settlers Population Fix and Chat issues

    Greetings fellow Settlers,

In an effort to increase transparency and clarity, we'll be alerting players to some known issues and bugs that may accompany today's patch. You can see the patch notes here:Patch Notes.

    Negative Settlers Population

"Improvements related to negative amount of working settlers"

The good news is that the negative settlers population that some have been experiencing will be fixed. Every account's population will be recalculated and will now display the correct amount of settlers.

However, after the calculations, you might notice that you appear to have "lost" some settlers or are above your current population limit. In the past, the population limitations were ignored in some cases and players had too many settlers in their settlements. This maintenance has corrected that issue. As an example, your population might show as 3000 settlers, you only have the space for 2000. In this case, if you try to build something, you would not have an employee available to make the goods.

There are two workarounds for this issue. Neither are ideal, but they are available:
    1. Build or upgrade your residences to increase your population limit.
    2. Decrease the amount of settlers you have by "losing" troops during adventures.

    Chat Issues

Unfortunately, a bug has accompanied this change. Players cannot use /w to send a message to someone with BB_ or CL_ in the title. As a workaround, players can click their name within the chat window and successfully send a whisper message. The developers are aware of this issue and are working on a solution.

Additionally, switching the chat color to white can cause some chat issues. The workaround is to cycle the chat colors and it will reset the chat window.

If there are any other questions, concerns or issues with this patch, please include all feedback in this thread.

If you are experiencing additional issues, please contact Support.

    Thanks for your patience.

I started this thread this morning --
    http://forum.thesettlersonline.net/t...ing-population

same issue -- logging out to test -- but how can i get back my pop ... this is crazy -- my island is not working cause there aren't enough pop to work the buildings. AND i had to buy supplies to make up for the non-working mines - so now i am out like 800 coin.

(and my settlers were not negative or over my residences prior to this 'fix' so my island didn't need fixing)

About population bug: It seems to me, it is not a "negative settler" problem. My pop limit is 660/900 and It is not increasing for almost 16 hours now. It does not only keep having excesive settlers for players that are above their limit, It simply does NOT ADD NEW SETTLERS even for players that are below their pop cap. "Next settler" clock is ticking in but does NOT ADD new settler, provision house keeps providing "settler packs" (like "Retired Bandit" Buff) but I can NOT ADD them to my work force. Also, I kept cleaning my homeisland and lost considerable amount of soldiers to bandits. I was already below pop cap and by loosing troops I fell even more below. So both these advices were inefective, it made me think that it is not a "negative settlers bug" as you described but is a "not increasing population" bug.

Although situation is quite anoying, we, the gamers of a free game, are more than happy to have a "for the gamers, with the gamers" tech crew like yourselves and for my part at least, I can say I'm patiently waiting for a soultion. Yet, the way you described the problem was more anoying than the problems itself and made me slightly upset, because it seems you couldn't diagnosed the problem properly and probably wasted hourse you could have use to fix it. Anyway, I am still positive problem will be solved, but just a friendly reminder, you are not seem to be on the right track guys.

There is another problem people are seeing, which is that they appear to no longer be getting new settlers. This is because the population listed is the sum of the troops, workers, and idle units. However, with the previous negative population bug, you may have fewer people on your island than is actually shown. However, there is no field for people to see the actual number. Thus, it appears that no new settlers are being added, and this continues until your actual amount (hidden) catches up with the listed amount. This seems to correct itself over time, but can be quickly resolved by adding settlers from your star menu.

adding settlers by "Settler Pack Buff" from Star Menu is not working either, as I mentioned my post above...

This is the reason I wrote "not seem to be on the right track", I don't meen to harras or "troll" anyone

Use settlers youve made with bread, it will fix it.

edit: Just keep adding them. It depends on how many 'extra' settlers you received. Some ppl it was 1k or more.

Theyre saying in global that for months when wells or mines fell, you got 2 settlers back instead of one. So this fix is just
taking back the ppl we shouldn't have had to begin with.

Same problem: I have 9538/9900 population without any new settlers, added 300 from my star menu, no change in population, 15:00 timer finishes, no change in population, added my 1 (really? only 1?) floating residence from guild market to increase my population limit and upgraded it and 15:00 timer finished ...end result? 9538/9950

I honestly have to say this is a step in the wrong direction. >

Update: I added 13 new workyards: 2 copper mines and 11 wells all of which have need settlers (red exclaimation mark)

Update: my population has increased: 9549/9950, 9230 Military units/ 319 workers, 15:00 timer finishes no change in population. All 13 added work stations still have no settlers to run them. Some red exclaimation points have dissappered on the map but clicking on the workyard shows indeed no settler there.

Update: added 2 groups of 625 settlers from my star menu: no change in numbers

Update: Completed Witch of the Swamp adventure losing 384R and 20C (404 total) military units went from 9230 to 8826. This correctly relects the loss of settlers. Population is 9150/9960 indicating the 15:00 timer is indeed adding settlers to population. Working population is 324 with at least 4 of the new workyards still lacking settlers. (hard to tell with the hidden red exclaimation marks)

Update: Visually comfirmed that the 15:00 timer is indeed adding settlers to population 9151/9960. Added 625 retired bandits and population changed to 9776/9960 reflecting an accurate addition to population.

Conclusion: the population will indeed reconcile itself with an addition of enough settlers.
