Many of us weren't not in the negative and no where near it. We did not
"1. Build or upgrade your residences to increase your population limit.
    2. Decrease the amount of settlers you have by "losing" troops during adventures."
and since the population is growing again. And with increasing and getting our workers back to work, we'd be right back in this so called negative number again but we aren't.

I now have 360 working settlers. I had a bit over 100 before the "fix". Not negative - but definitely something went wrong at some point. Just add some settlers from star - problem solved.
More of the same "new" content with a different bow? I will give more of the "same" towards my gem accumulation.

in the end i have to eat crow over this stupid pop fiasco - cause if i add my workers to my conscripted military - i have the amount over it said i did - BUT i still feel doing it with NO warning whatsoever was passive aggressive and wrong

and as for the comment of not reading the patch notes... really --??? come on! i mean they were cryptic at best - and obtuse... 1 single sentence stated they were fixing a negative settler bug... well i looked at mine - nope its not negative - doesn't affect me...

What they should have SAID --- BEFORE maintenance - in a HOME PAGE post announcement

    Be Aware -- there is a bug giving you more workers than shows in your population totals This is not obvious when looking at your totals. To find out if this happened to your island;

Hover over your population # in the top right of the list of items, ADD your Workers to your Military -- if they are HIGHER than your population total - On Wednesday those workers will be removed. We suggest you have residences ready to go up OR an adventure planned to take care of the delta that you see when you take the total pop minus the above added numbers
(for example - in the screenshot -- MILITARY 4184 + workers 184 = USING pop 4368 MINUS residence space of 4190 = 178 extra people. therefore you will "lose" 178 people (or the game would not let me use them - put in a different way) from your workers. In this example you will have to either remove 178 people via losses in an adventure OR build enough residences to house 178 extra people.

THEN they should have posted this a WEEK in advance at LEAST - to allow for lower level players and those who don't have extra BL to save up and buy extra residences or get a adventure set to to finish on morning after this bug 'fix' goes live. Especially since the SAME issue happened on the german servers a WEEK earlier so they definitely had notice of how it would confuse and upset players.

THATS how you roll out a major change in something... not just 1 sentence obtusely referencing something that may or may not be happening on your island.

(in the end i had to build and upgrade to lvl 3 -- 3 nobles and 1 floating residence to get my island working again - a pretty expensive fix).

    *steps off soapbox*

    have a great day all.

Knowing such hotfixes tend to go....awry....i left ample space. Most of my good friends and guildies left ample space and pop too so that it would be easily absorbed. Guess what - few problems.

I would expect the majority of players had no idea that they had to do anything of the sort.

I had ample space. I had unemployed settlers. I also had plenty of settlers in my star storage. The bug fix announcement gave me no indication that I had to prepare for anything; if I had seen that announcement anyway.

Whether BB or the player should pay the costs of getting back in order is one question that I really do not care about.

BB screwed the pooch in the handling of it, without question. The business model requires players willing to purchase gems for real money. Making such a 'fix' with the impact it had on so many, is quite counterproductive to that business model.

Why would I kill off troops if I have 9 generals and only 1400 troops, a working pop of 400 and a pop limit of 3370? That would be a waste and defeat working to build 1800 troops.
1400 (troop) + 400 (working pop)= 1800. 3370 - 1400 = 1570 pop spaces unused and impossible to have a negative worker situation yet they took nearly 150 retired bandits from me and shut down my islands production for a day causing me to have to spend over 200 coins on raw materials to compensate for their so called "fix".
They "fixed" nothing for me. They screwed me over for no reason.

They are the ones who robbed us. Why parrot them, those who are trying to justify a gross error? That would work for those who were in a negative workers situation but many of us were not. I have created hundreds of retired bandits since their break of my island and have grown my troops by 512 without killing anything off. If this was a fix and I was over-populated, how could I grow over 500 troops since?

I had no reason to think I should do anything going into that so called "fix" as I was 2000 under my population limit and not in a negative workers situation.
