i agree that the icons are confusing and do not follow standard practices -- AND the recycle icon for back is very confusing also.
We're getting off topic so let's not talk about that bit anymore before that BB from the test server decides to come over here and tell me to stop giving feedback. LOL.
The return Icon in place of the "X" in the quest book would be better suited, as it is yellowish and is less harmful for a player to click on. They won't be afraid to click on it (without fear of accidentally deleting). Basically it's "return" to the game.
A Red Slash icon in place of the 'refresh/return' icon in the Mail would be better suited because, red means a bit of caution. Makes you think twice before clicking. If they plan to continue using the return icon for the mail. AT LEAST give us a popup warning to say you're about to abandon your written mail. And say are you sure. And give us a rollover as well.
Personally I like the words better.. and many of the people I talk to think the same way. Not sure why they would change it... There is still so many things that needs to be fixed

The reason for the change from words to graphics is to remove the differences in the GUI between the different language versions. While the text used for names and descriptions come from a data base, which can then be made for individual languages (which is the reason we would get undefined text errors), the text on buttons have to be changed for each language version. Removing this means there can be essentially one version of the game, with different database sections, which is easier to fix and to test. It could even potentially allow you to choose the language you wanted to see, regardless of the server you would actually be playing on, making the only issue the language used by the players in the chat channel.
I would agree the icons could be a bit clearer, but since the people testing the system typically knew what the buttons already did, it was not a critical issue. It may have been better to use a null symbol (zero slashed) for the no, as that is also a fairly accepted symbol for no and is not used in the game.
As for feedback, it is often a matter of quality. With the test server, we are helping the company remove potential bugs and problems in the game. Part of this is understanding what they are trying to accomplish, although this would be made easier with a bit more communication from the designers to the beta testers. Providing feedback to help them reach their goals and providing thoughtful justification to it is typically better received than posts that could be seen to be more complaining about changes.
