I've asked multiple times in help chat and always got conflicting answers.
Do the barracks and provision house stop production while being upgraded? Looking to go from level 4 to 5, but if they stop producing, I may as well just walk away from this game for a week. and perhaps much longer. Doesn't make any sense they would, but just asking.

Hate to tell ya, yes they do stop. Many who wish to upgrade to 5 stock up troops and ph items before beginning the upgrade. It's very doable, you just have to plan ahead first. And it's a mark of accomplishment once you reach level 5! (I stopped at 4 heh)
If you take a vaca for a week, you still need to just log in daily. If you don't play at all, everything stops after...i think...3 days. So you'd come back after 7 and the upgrade would only be like 30% finished. Just logging in also triggers the daily gem count.
The same applies to all upgrading buildings. They all stop production during the upgrade. So you want to rotate, upgrade 2 or 3 at a time, not all of same building at once.
It's a pain, yes, but those i've spoken with say its worth it.

Good to upgrade. Just stock up before.

I bit the bullet and did the barracks and provision house to level 5 at one time. Actually worked out well for since i didn't have to wait 2 weeks. Both are very worthwhile upgrades.
