My fellow settlers and friends,
The following was an idea I had today at work and I humbly submit it to community and BB for consideration:
1) What is the community councils?
Much like BB has picked community leaders for us the community council will be an elected world with 5 representatives from each server for a total of ten members. (Zeus and Ares) The community council will be an off site or on forum locked group to come up with ideas, events and proposals for the BB team to review. The community council will serve a different purpose than that of the CL group in that the elected leaders will form full fledged new proposals, suggestions, rules and other changes or suggestions to be submitted to BB on behalf of the community.
2) Why not just have the CLS?
The CLs will serve as a sort of upper chamber for the settlers community, adding their own expertise to the finished proposals of the elected group and then past on the BB and having been approved by both the BB appointed CLs and the elected council. The council members will not receive any special tools or markings in chat.
3) Won't the voting just turn into a popularity contest?
Yes, partly but it will also be a vote that will be in place a group of people that are known. Someone will have to declare a candidacy, have a small period of time for the election and for the candidates to speak to the community followed by an anonymous vote.
4) What other things could the council work on?
Bringing more people into the community by going out to the internet and recruiting and spreading TSO information.
Holding community wide events
Serving as a place and sounding board and ear for all residences of the community.
5) What if I dont get elected?
I would suggest every 6 months the group would come up for reelection. This would be the time to remove or replace those who are no longer serving the community.
6) What if someone leaves mid-game or is removed from the council?
The council will vote on one person to preside and be the president of the council, that person would then nominate a suggested replacement for the council until the next vote.
I believe this group could be a great boon to our communities.
